Starting with the good, called PALIA LAS PALOMAS,, the hotel is upgrading to 4* over the winter, the pool area and lobby are already stunning, the pool area is all new and Very clean, pool area power hosed every night.Plenty of beds at this time of year, very clean water, pool a joy to swim in. Room was very clean, plenty of hanging and drawer space for us two, great over head shower, plenty of hot water. Only one plug, lucky I brought a multi way adapter. Drink is all cold and plenty of choice.
Average: the food, Chinese night was the same as non themed nights, all very bland, Lots of choice, really nice salad every day, love the little wine crofts, no need to run up and down for more wine / beer etc. fresh omelettes to order every morning was nice, and fresh bread, but bland, had to eat out a few nights for something tasty. I understand the need to suit the masses, but one meal a night with a bit of bang ? Not even a curry on Chinese night !!
"The Bad" we paid extra for a "sea view" on arrival at about 9pm 25/12/16. The recepionest booking us in said there are no sea view rooms available so we were in a Pool view room, thou disappointed we said Ok. Up in the room we opened the curtains to see a dingy street, No view at all, I went down to speak to reception to be told, "you got no view, pity, talk to your rep !! I had asked nicely to be given sarcastic droll from the female at the desk. I asked about the pool view and she said she didn't say that and they only had two "sea view rooms", they were full and I could complain to who I booked threw. I returned shocked at how I had been spoken to, my husband, a very diplomatic man then went to speak to her and got more of the same. Next day a very nice man on reception , simply said, no problem we will move you. The room,, not only had a pool view but a gorgeous view between building out to see, lovely gardens and everything
I could ask for, this entire side of the building floors 6 & 7 would have similar views., And as for being full,, the hotel was very quiet., The beds, felt like sleeping on a park bench ! I hope they replace these for next year, everyone we spoke to said the same, unless you like rock hard, like us it was hell, we stuffed towels covers and anything else we could to pad them, we did get extra pillows when we asked.
We would return, but not on All inclusive, and if they replace the beds and fridges ( none work !) Great spot , so close to everything. Except for our first recipients, all the other staff were excellent, could not do enough, friendly and helpful.

Room tip: pool view is quiet.

Stayed here last week in September for 7 days. We liked the hotel. It's in a good position. Walk down the road or through the car park to the beach. Walk up the road to Torremolinos town. Both areas had lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Gorgeous beach, plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas ranging from 3 to 5 euros.

The hotel still needs updating in areas. Our room was dated but that didn't bother us. We had plenty of space. We were told the fridge in the room didn't work, so why leave it there? Air con was good altho noisy. We had a room overlooking the road, we asked to move to a pool view which I asked for as a request upon booking but was told the hotel was full. No way was this hotel full! The woman on reception clearly couldn't be bothered with us. Room was kept clean. We never saw a cleaner around the hotel during the day times. Public toilets not kept clean enough and you had to put toilet paper in the bins not down the pan. Bins were always overflowing with soiled paper. Toilets in reception area were closed for the week we were there as not working!

Food-- This was the biggest let down for us. The worse food we've ever had. Very limited choice and poor quality. Food always cold.
Another negative for us was having to drink wine in the dining hall from tumblers NO wine glasses. Also in the evening indoor bar drinks are served in the cheapest plastic cups. Hope your not a heavy handed person because as soon as you hold the cups they cave inwards and drink spills over you! Felt we were at a children's tea party. Also no wine served at night this was not good for us as that's all we drink. Totally in acceptable. NEVER not had wine at night. Wasn't happy about this.

Pool area was ok always got sunbeds altho by lunchtime half was in the shade. Entertainment team worked hard during the day but were never pushy if you didn't want to join in. We didn't enjoy the evening entertainment put on by the staff. However We enjoyed the two nights they had professional acts on.

If improvements were made and food looked into it would be a nice hotel.

The palomas had been shut for 4 Years and eventually had to be auctioned to raise taxes that were due , Fortunately the winning bidder was a Spanish hotel chain called Palia who operate in Mallorca. They were set a huge task in trying to renovate a listed building in a short period of time so they opted for a quick facelift and reopened in June 2016 with the view to close Today the 1st of October 2016 to Finish the refurbishment which will transform the Palomas which is due to reopen in April 2017.
There is no point in detailing the room structure now as it has closed however the Rooms were spotless and cleaned every day, The staff were all helpful and had time to talk to you. I agree with other reviews that the plastic glasses in the Evening in the main Bar are not acceptable and neither is standing 15 minutes to get served, However I would think this was down to the fact the Hotel was about to close for its 4 star makeover, The Manager certainly knows his stuff and is very pleasant as is the director and Bart on reception. In all honesty I would have to say that the Hotel caters for Spanish clients mostly but what do you expect you are in Spain, The food was varied and yes i agree the heat lamps need to be turned up a little as the food was luke warm however there is a microwave and a chef on a griddle plate who was more than willing to cook fresh fish, steak, pork and anything else you wanted griddled..The hotel was short on staff , again i am sure due to the imminent closure.
If you are expecting to see English tv you will be hard pushed so take a tablet and pay for the wifi and stream it. The wifi is excellent and is 20 euro a week .All in All i didnt know what to expect I would say the Hotel was short of 4 star however on reopening i would imagine it will be.A most pleasant break and great staff. I will review the hotel again in May 2017 when it reopens.

Good holiday. room on seventh floor with pool and sea view room kept very clean with changed towels and bed linen when needed plenty clothes hanging and drawer space toilet and shower excellent plenty of room in both room and shower toilet/
Location ideal short walk through car park to carihuela area for excellent beaches and restaurants and shops.
Staff
helpful and cheery hard working wine in dining room acceptable we liked the rosy and it was pour your own in to carafes including beer fanta coke sprite and various fruit juices.
FOOD like any all inclusive a bit boring by the end of holiday but they did try with themed nights Chinese Mexican etc breakfast was good omelettes cooked to order pancakes and the best orange and coffee from a machine.evening was a bit Spanish which did not bother us if you do not like that there is the snack bar with burger and chips cocktails and beers served all day
Entertainment we went about three times and was impressed by the animation team they work hard all day keeping people amused and then entertain them to a decent level at night well done. We heard that hotel is closing at the end of next month for a complete refurb
People who complain about this hotel are looking for five star treatment on three star prices we got a great deal and thought we got value for money

Room tip: ask for pool view
