I am a regular visitor to Marbella and usually stay at premium beach hotels but for my off-season visit I wanted smth more cosy, private but still very comfortable. Marbella off season is quite windy so I was looking for a hotel in the old city.
I have chosen Claude Marbella because all of the comments on Trip advisor and that was a perfect visit.
Location is very good, in the heart of old city, with many restaurants and nice shops around. It takes 10 min to walk to the sea but if your visit is off season that can hardly be a disadvantage.
In reality hotel looks even better than on photos, very clean, stylish and comfortable. It still feels brand new (facilities), despite the fact that it operates for some time, maintenance is really good.
Beds are comfortable, heating works perfect (that was important for me as Marbella wind and humidity always make me feel a bit chilly), there is always a person 24 hrs at the desk. But the main thing is service and personal touch: you feel welcome from the first minute and your visit turns more into a family stay. I travelled alone so it was nice to have a company to chat, when you have such a need. But since the hotel has just few rooms you always have your privacy.
Manager and staff are very friendly and ready to help, you get bathrobe of your size, in common areas there is always complimentary good tea (and good tea is rarity in hotels in Spain), infusions, coffee machine and water, good cosmetics in shower,
glossy magazine and water in your room, hotel has a big selection of DVDs, wifi connection is fast. Breakfast is good and terrace on the roof is very charming. Hotel also provides free access to the O2 wellness centre, it takes 15 min walk to get there but it definitely worth it.
I can say that it was one of the rare cases when hotel exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be back and recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

And what a breakfast ! Attentively served by Maria, elegant surroundings and croissants and fig jam to die for. Eggs, omelettes, bacon, whatever you desire. Super bed and breakfast of top level situated bang in the middle of old Marbella. Desiree and Maria are there to ensure your stay is as enjoyable and relaxed as you can possibly wish.

Hotel Claude was the perfect choice for our long weekend in Marbella. The hotel is beautiful - an elegant old house, tastefully and stylishly restored and perfectly located in the old town of Marbella, a short stroll to the sea and boulevard. The hotel staff were wonderful - warm, friendly, full of interesting stories and very helpful in terms of excellent restaurant recommendations. Nothing was ever a problem. Another highlight was the lovely breakfasts in the winter sun on the rooftop terrace. We loved our stay and will no doubt return to the hotel in future visits to Marbella.

There are only two words to describe Hotel Claude. A jewel!
Our four night stay was just amazing. The hotel itself was stylish, chic, immaculate throughout and gave off such a relaxed ambience. The rooms were all luxurious and individually styled with Molton Brown products in the bathroom.
The staff were so friendly and always on hand. Nothing was too much trouble.
We were lucky enough in November to have gorgeous weather which enabled us to enjoy the late evening sunshine on the beautifully romantic roof top terrace sipping chilled wine and overlooking the stunning view of Marbella's old town.
The breakfast which was included in the price was of the high standard you would expect from this hotel.
Hotel Claude is situated on the cobbled streets of Marbella's old town lined with rustic restaurants and traditional tapas bars for those relaxed evenings out or a ten minute walk to the more vibrant town and promenade.
My partner had stayed here a couple of times previously and he told me how stunning this place was. He was not wrong. It was not only stunning but just perfect. We left knowing that we would be returning to this beautiful hotel again very soon. Overwhelming!!
Thank you so much to Desi,Stelian and all of the staff at Hotel Claude

For our honeymoon night we wanted to stay somewhere in Marbella that would be unique and we were not disappointed with Hotel Claude. It is the most amazing experience. Right from the moment you enter the hotel, you are treated like a king and queen. Superb attention by staff, lovely ambience and so beautifully clean everywhere. This is a true gem and an experience not to be missed. Breakfast on the top terrace is amazing. With rooftop views across to the church towers, sea and mountain views, we were served the most delicious breakfast, so fresh and loved every mouthful. For our honeymoon, it was everything that we had looked for. Intimate, modern yet keeping the charm and beauty of the original property, and incredible service. Thank you Maria and everybody else at Hotel Claude for making our stay in Marbella one to look back on with very happy memories. You and your staff made us so welcome and you deserve to be rated one of the best hotels in Marbella on TripAdvisor. Incredible experience xx

We spent five nights at this hotel in early October. The hotel is exactly as shown on the website. Beautiful decor, very clean and luxurious.Little touches like complimentary bottled water in the room, coffee machine, Molton Brown toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, not to mention the nightly chocolate at the side of the bed helped make it all feel like a special treat. The location is great, very quiet but easy access to the Old Town and a fabulous choice of restaurants and bars. We enjoyed our breakfast on the roof terrace each morning - a wonderful platter of fresh fruits and freshly squeezed orange juice to start, followed by pretty much whatever you wanted. We also enjoyed a quiet read or chat with a cool drink on the roof terrace at the end of the day.The hotel arranged a taxi transfer from the airport for us, which all went very smoothly (70 Euros each way). We would love to return one day and will recommend to friends. We will also be looking out for small intimate hotels like this in other places - the manager mentioned one in Barcelona, so would love to find out more about that.

We chose to stay at Hotel Claude for a relaxing, off-season trip to Marbella with very little advanced planning and could not have been more pleased with how it turned out. With minimal knowledge of the town and its attractions, we found HC's location to be ideal in that it is located in old town in close proximity to the beach and most of what is charming about Marbella. The building itself is a beautiful old home kept very clean and in pristine condition with a uniqueness that was a welcome departure from the larger resort-style properties that line the beach. The rooftop terrace offers a fantastic venue for breakfast as well as evening drinks among the spires and steeples of old town. We found the location of HC to be outstanding as it sits toward the quieter upper portion of a narrow, predominantly pedestrian, thoroughfare that offers some great dining and drinking options, is extremely close to Orange Square and takes 5 minutes by foot to reach the beach. The real reason to stay here, however, is the service. The team was remarkable in their hospitality. We truly felt that we could ask them for assistance with anything and most of the time did not have to as our needs were anticipated. For example, upon realizing that our car would not be moved in time to avoid a parking citation in the morning, the staff proactively found us a new parking spot, moved our vehicle and paid for the incremental parking charges incurred all before we awoke. When we had an extremely early morning departure, the staff saw to it that we had a printed set of directions back to Madrid (in English) awaiting us along with a full breakfast and coffee...all at 4am. We have numerous other examples of the great service provided but in the interest of brevity, suffice it to say that the staff all offered quality service and attention without seeming intrusive. We would not think of staying anywhere else in Marbella and hope to return soon.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Revamped Royal Townhouse Once the summer residence of Empress Eugenia de Montijo (Napoleon III´s wife), Hotel Claude Marbella is a 17th- century townhouse that has been revamped and restyled to meld authentic period features with modern design, setting a new benchmark in the boutique-is- beautiful league of southern Spanish hotels. This latest chic retreat takes its name from the late Claude Devoize, the French Opera singer, whose home this townhouse was back in the 70s and 80s, hosting endless soirees and cultural gatherings. The focus of Hotel Claude is its marble-flagged patio and its unique romantic roof terrace, overlooking the bustling old town of Marbella. The seven rooms, divided into 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms and 1 Suite, have been designed individually and each boasting their own unique personality and feel, though all come equipped with the latest in comfort and technology. The Suite Francesca is the only room that looks out onto the old town’s main street. A large balcony and a huge floor-to-ceiling window keep it bright and airy, and the high, wood-beamed ceilings and decorative arch leading to the minimalist mosaic-fitted bathroom create a sense of spaciousness. All 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms are located to the back of the building, overlooking neighbouring patios and roofs. Up in the eaves, The Flamand room overlooks the roof terrace and has its own private stairwell leading up to a smart loft-style studio with glossy oak floors and a semi-open-plan bathroom. Listening to the church chime outside and looking out over the steeple, you feel like a princess in a tower. Savannah and North African-themed Marroqui are joined by a courtyard, making them ideal for families or friends travelling together. Small properties can sometimes feel stifling, but not here, and the design incorporates a flurry of velvet, purples, reds and cream colours. Once the a la carte breakfast has been served on the roof terrace or the black and white themed “bijou” style dining room, guests are left to their own devices. Focusing on showing guests a slice of the old Marbella, in addition to the Costa del Sol´s beaches and golf courses, Hotel Claude emphasises on slowing down and enjoying the surroundings. You´d be hard-pressed to find a retreat as slick or private as The Claude anywhere in Marbella. ... more   less
