“Nothing was too much trouble in this charming boutique Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2012

This is a little gem of a Hotel centrally located in the beautiful old town & we loved it.
With only 7 rooms (we stayed in 2 of them) & therefore a small staff you get to know them a little & all of them are so kind, helpful & genuinely can't do enough for you.
After the customary welcome drink in the very attractive lounge we were shown our room on the 2nd floor which we liked initially as it was spacious & beautifully appointed with quality furnishings & luxury bathroom (roll top bath with shower) but in the roof with sky light windows which we werent so keen on.
We do'nt like to make a fuss but after a couple of days we mentioned this & were kindly moved to the slightly smaller but arguabley nicer room on the first floor. No bath but a hugh shower which we prefer anyway.
We took the lovely breakfast every morning (which they serve from 0800 to 1200!) on the delightful roof terrace which sometimes took a bit longer than we liked but we appreciated the personal service given.
This truly boutique Hotel oozing charm is in a great location close to pretty much everything & is furnished superbly throughout.
We swam in the o2 wellness centre for 4 days which is about a mile away & looked like a great facility.

Room Tip: Try to be on the first floor maybe as we werent so keen on the room on the second floor

The Hotel Claude was recommended to us by a guide and we are so glad that we took his suggestion. It came at the end of a two-week vacation throughout Spain and was a highlight! Our room was well-appointed, comfortable and spacious. The service was impeccable and the owner, Desiree, made us feel as if we were staying in her home. We look forward to returning as we did not get to enjoy the rooftop dining! Our only regret was that we could not stay longer!

Room Tip: Desiree will give you a tour of the rooms so that you may make your own choice!

What a fantastic place to stay! Walked into the former home of Napoleon 111. Who knew?
This hotel is in the middle of everything anyone is looking for when visiting Marbella. Desiree, "Sergio" and Marie were absolutely the best!
Our hotel room was spotlessly clean and oh so comfy. Breakfast on the deck was MY pleasure.
Good restaurants, bars, entertainment and oh yes, my wife was able to find a great hairdresser within 5 minutes walking distance of the hotel. What more is there to say?
Hotel Claude, thank you. I hope to see you soon.

My husband and I are staying in the Andalucia region and decided to take an impromptu trip to Marbella. Hotel Claude was recommended to us by friends who had just stayed two weeks prior. We are so very glad we took their advice! We often follow TripAdvisor recommendations, and think that this hotel should be in a higher category than #10. We absolutely loved everything about it. We stayed in the Francesca suite, and were served a fabulously fresh breakfast (at noon!) on the rooftop. We languished and soaked up the atmosphere of the neighborhood with smles on our faces. It doesn't get much better than this. Oh, wait, it did! It only got better from there.

Sergio, Marie, and Desiree were extremely helpful in arranging anything that we requested. It was very difficult to leave them, and we will definitely stay at the Hotel Claude when we return to Marbella.

We went for a week to boutique hotel Claude in Marbella, Spain.
What a treat!

After making the reservation online, we received an email and a few days later a phone call to confirm, ask how late we would arrive and provide us with a route description. This is a good example of the personal attention we experienced througout our entire stay.

Check in was done in a lounge area with a glass of wine. After that a brief tour was provided by te owner, together with a short history of the building. Rooms (total 7) were spacious, luxurious and very clean. Airco, Bose iPod docking station, flat screen and wifi where standard. Bathroom with rainshower and Molton Brown products.

Staff was exrtremely helpfull: tips and reservations for restaurants, gift voucher for SPA and gym outside the hotel (which we did not use) and a breakfast specially made for us (no buffet!). Hotel has a roof top terras for breakfast or drinks in the afternoon. Beautifull views of the old town and Mediteranian Sea on the horizon.

Hotel is located in the old city of Marbella (no Porto Banus - thanks!) in a very quite neigbourhood. A 2 minute walk and you are in the touristic scene, 5 minute walk from the beach.

Thanks for a week of luxury. Worth every Euro! We for sure go back.

This property was such a joy to stay in...very quaint, very well decorated & updated but with all of the charm of the original building. Desiree made our stay so incredibly memorable and special with her fantastic hospitality. Great location as well.

Room Tip: We had the Flamant suite, tucked up in the attic. Great room, comfy bed, great air cond., only draw...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Revamped Royal Townhouse Once the summer residence of Empress Eugenia de Montijo (Napoleon III´s wife), Hotel Claude Marbella is a 17th- century townhouse that has been revamped and restyled to meld authentic period features with modern design, setting a new benchmark in the boutique-is- beautiful league of southern Spanish hotels. This latest chic retreat takes its name from the late Claude Devoize, the French Opera singer, whose home this townhouse was back in the 70s and 80s, hosting endless soirees and cultural gatherings. The focus of Hotel Claude is its marble-flagged patio and its unique romantic roof terrace, overlooking the bustling old town of Marbella. The seven rooms, divided into 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms and 1 Suite, have been designed individually and each boasting their own unique personality and feel, though all come equipped with the latest in comfort and technology. The Suite Francesca is the only room that looks out onto the old town’s main street. A large balcony and a huge floor-to-ceiling window keep it bright and airy, and the high, wood-beamed ceilings and decorative arch leading to the minimalist mosaic-fitted bathroom create a sense of spaciousness. All 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms are located to the back of the building, overlooking neighbouring patios and roofs. Up in the eaves, The Flamand room overlooks the roof terrace and has its own private stairwell leading up to a smart loft-style studio with glossy oak floors and a semi-open-plan bathroom. Listening to the church chime outside and looking out over the steeple, you feel like a princess in a tower. Savannah and North African-themed Marroqui are joined by a courtyard, making them ideal for families or friends travelling together. Small properties can sometimes feel stifling, but not here, and the design incorporates a flurry of velvet, purples, reds and cream colours. Once the a la carte breakfast has been served on the roof terrace or the black and white themed “bijou” style dining room, guests are left to their own devices. Focusing on showing guests a slice of the old Marbella, in addition to the Costa del Sol´s beaches and golf courses, Hotel Claude emphasises on slowing down and enjoying the surroundings. You´d be hard-pressed to find a retreat as slick or private as The Claude anywhere in Marbella. ... more   less
