Booking from start to finish was simple and Beverly always kept in contact. Hosts were friendly and Dave picked us up from the airport and we were shown around the villa on arrival. Dave also kindly took us to the large supermarket so we could stock up for the week which was very nice of him as we didn't have a car and showed us round the local area . We have travelled to Malaga many times and normally stay in Benalmaldena so was nice to try a different area. We really loved el faro because it was so close to all the popular towns such as la Cala de mijas, fuengriola , and Marbella. We got a taxi to fuengriola one day where we had lunch and went on the beach , and then walked from there to the large miramar shopping centre in the evening which was open until 10pm. They have everything there you can think of , and all the shops you can think of such as primark and Zara. it's worth an evening out. We spent the day at La Cala beach , which is a really nice beach with crystal clear waters and a lovely area with many lovely restaurants. Taxis were cheap and easy to use. One day we got the bus to Marbella which took an hour , lovely area to explore and from there got a taxi to Puerto banus harbour where we sat with a drink and watched all the super cars driving along!. There is so much to see and do in and around El Faro and a week wasn't long enough to see and do everything. If we went back I would like to explore mijas village and Cabo pino harbour. On our last night we visited Olivia's la Cala where there wa la a white party with entertainment. It is pricey but well worth the visit and has amazing views out to sea from the rooftop terrace.
The villa itself has amazing outside space with fantastic views across the valleys. We spent many days just chilling by the pool and we loved how quiet and peaceful it was. We rarely saw Dave and Beverly but they were always there if we needed any help. The guard dog Vulcan is so friendly but behind he's own locked gate so can't get in to your private area. The apartment is clean , typically spanish and has everything you need to enjoy your holiday. It's a short five min walk to the small lovely beach where we sat and ate lunch in the restaurant over looking the sea , where you can see for miles. Lots of lovely restaurants near by , recommend the greedy goat and the Chinese. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and defiantly hope to be back one day soon. Thank you for a fantastic holiday !
We would like to thank Dave and Bev and the loveable pet dog Vulcan who doubles up as a "guard dog" for our third winter stay in their villa. Yet again we had such a wonderful stay with people who we now class as friends. We cannot fault their accommodation, the only comment we can make is that they keep improving it, and the help and friendly approach from Dave and Bev made this stay equally as good as the last two.
As every other review states, you get to live in a typical Spanish villa and enjoy the lifestyle as if you lived there. Easy access to the whole of the Costa Del Sol is only a bus ride away in both directions. This visit we discovered amongst other things Playa Cabopino which is a hidden gem between El Faro and Marbella and a must to visit, and the Greedy Goat Bar & Restaurant which is good competition to Doña Maria, both only a short walk away. Already have the accommodation and flights booked for 2019 and soooo looking forward to it. Thanks Dave and Bev for yet another top holiday.
Cyril and I have just returned from spending 8 nights at the apartment owned by Beverley and Dave. After arranging to be collected from the airport, Beverley spent time explaining all we needed to know to maximise on our enjoyment at the apartment and visiting local amenities. A document file was also provided so that we had everything to hand for our stay.
The apartment is traditionally Spanish style, located in a residential area. It was so quite and peaceful yet only 10 minutes walk from a selection of restaurants and mini supermarkets. We ate out everyday but Dave was more than happy to take us to a larger supermarket if we had wished.
The very large terrace was amazing and it was south facing and the pool was for our sole use. We would sit on the terrace with a glass of wine, listening to the parakeets while watching the sun go down in the evening.
There is an excellent bus service running along the coastal road, again, only 10 minutes walk away. One day we travelled to Fuengerola, then took another bus to Mijas, a whitewashed town in the hills. Quite touristy but very picturesque with narrow streets and pretty squares. Mijas is famous for its donkeys and horsedrawn carriages for hire for sightseeing around the town.
Another day we travelled in the opposite direction to the next town of La Cala, where there is an excellent market on a Wednesday and Saturday. FInally, our last trip was to Marbella which takes 1 hour on the bus. Get off in the centre of the town and make your way to the harbour. There you can get a "water taxi" to Puerto Banus, the millionaires playground. This place is where you can imagine what it must be like to be rich and famous, quite and experience.
Finally it was time to leave and say our sad goodbyes to our excellent hosts Beverley and Dave, not forgetting Volcan who did their utmost to make our stay so memorable. We can't wait until we are able to share their beautiful home on the Cost del Sol again next year
Before arriving at the apartment, we had planned to go to a number of locations during our two weeks visit to El Faro. On arrival, after seeing the wonderful swimming pool, gardens and terrace areas this soon went out the window. Instead the holiday ended up being the most relaxing one we have had spent mainly around the apartment. We did venture into Fuengirola a couple of times, (once on the bus and once by taxi on market day) and to the next town La Cala De Mijas, but apart from that, just chilled. Beverley and Dave were so helpful when we required a bit of advice plus Dave took us to the supermarket when we first arrived, thus avoiding the need to lug multi bags of shopping at a later date. In El Faro, there are a number of small supermarkets nearby and at least a dozen very reasonable but good quality restaurants within 10 minutes’ walk. The beach is only 5 minutes away, but due to the lovely pool, we only visited it once during the holiday. The end result was a superb relaxing holiday and would recommend it to anyone, hence 5 stars.
Location is excellent. Everything is accessible. Bus or taxi ride away. Beach is 5 minutes walk as are the shops and restaurants. Beverly & Dave are easy going and will assist at any time, if needed. The photo's do not do this villa justice. The pool area is relaxing and calm and the living area large. Would recommend this villa, urbanisation and restaurants to anyone. Vulcan, the dog is adorable and spoke to him daily. Didn't want to come home
