Description: The history of piadina has ancient origins and is thought to date back to the Etruscan period, who prepared a sort of "piada" with cereals which was subsequently baked and stuffed with vegetables or used as a kind of bread. The Romans made their own this recipe that was consumed in the most refined houses. The etymology of the word "piadina" is uncertain; many think the term "piada" (pie, pieda, pida) was borrowed from the Greek word for focaccia. Others think the term was borrowed from other languages because of the large use of similar foods throughout the Eastern Roman Empire. The term "Piada" was officialized by Pascoli, who adapted the Romagnol word "pie" into its more Italian form (the same Pacoli wrote a poem called "la Piada") The first written evidence of Piadina as it is now recognized dates back to 1371, in the Descriptio Romandiolae compiled by Cardinal Anglico, who for the first time gave the recipe of the bread of the people of Romagna: "It is made with wheat flour moistened with water and flavoured with salt. It is then kneaded with milk as well, and also a little lard." The fame of piadina starts in the 50s when the people in Romagna began to build small kiosks in the streets, especially those leading to the sea, that sell the piadina filled with ham, squacquerone cheese and rucola. Tourists returning home from their trip on the Adriatic coast, have begun to make known the piada in the world!

Overall

This place was amazing, the owners are italian and the food was always perfect, healthy and most of all the ingredients was fresh.

Throughout the 12 day stay we ended up eating here for 7 days because the food was healthy, tasty and a real italian experience

Food

The food was amazing great for meat and veg, the piadine was amazing, tasted better n better each time (if you like spicy food try the special sauce) whilst being here also tried the Tiramisu and it was to die for! Did not want anything else!!! Highly recommended, believe me you will sit in silence enjoying this!

Value

I found the food great value for money as it is filling tasty and for the location defiantly beats the prices around here. The chef always giving us extra salads and ingredients (bonus)

Service

You wont get better service anywhere i found other waiters in the area a little rude but here they was so friendly and we actually spoke for endless hours with the guys, we will miss them but maybe there food more :p

Atmosphere

We always sat outside adoring the view in the nice cooling atmosphere

11/10 they exceeded customer services and food was outstanding. Eat here defiantly as you will not regret it and get good value for money

I hope the owners read this and remember the lads

“Italian taste in the best location”
Reviewed June 6, 2014

The food was amazing, both of the version are really tasty the salty and the sweet ones. The athmosphere was very good, the staff explain everything and also it is important to mention that all the ingredient were natural, and the piada dought is made daily by them. You can sit inside and enjoy the show kitchen or outside and enjoy the sean view. I deeply suggest if you want to try something new, or if you are italian and you are missing home, you will never regred this joice!

“Great fresh food at a cosy restaurant!”
Reviewed April 19, 2014 via mobile

I had never heard of a piadina... now I would love to eat it every day! I had a classic one with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. It's delicious, fresh and not heavy, a combination which is hard to find in Andalucia! As a tip: leave some place for a piadina with nutella as dessert ;)
