We've stayed at this hotel every year in the low season since it was first opened, always great value for money.
Whilst it's certainly at the lower end of the 5 star hotel range, their mini suites with a sea or pool view are spacious and well appointed with a very comfortable bed and the breakfast buffet more than enough to keep you going all day! Its just a shame that the locale has not been improved over recent years as the access roads and all the empty lots around it are still an eyesore and tough on the rental car suspension. Whilst there were a couple of small problems i.e. the extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working and the hotel's gym was very basic, the staff were very helpful and the bar staff can certainly make a mean Mohito!
This is a very convenient hotel and we use it as an alternative to owning an apartment, which works out really well in low season for value and I just love the closeness to the port without being at it's heart which can be a bit downbeat off season. Easy access to the motorway with routes close by to Gibraltar, Estapona, San Pedro, Mijas and Ronda if you want a bit of sight-seeing as well as great shopping in Puerto Banus and of course Marbella itself.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea or pool view, the best rooms are central with direct views over both, the 3rd floor wa...

At arrival we had to wait ~10 min. for the receptionist, the bell boy ringing repeatedly for someone to turn up. That would never have happened in a 5* hotel.

We had booked a junior suite. There was poor sound insulation between adjoining suites. The suite was worn with ripped material in the chairs, but with a nice size terraces.

It would have been nice with hot water in the shower.

The TV in the lounge was impossible to watch from sofa without a twisted neck, and it was the smallest TV in a 5*star hotel we have ever seen. The TV in the bedroom was a joke, you need a microscope to be able to watch it.

We had some very good beds. The breakfast was also very good.

This is an ok 4,5* hotel, but don't expect, nor pay for a 5*.

We returned to the Guadalpin in November for a weeks break and it was wonderful again. We booked a double at a fantastic rate, arrived and upgraded to a larger suite reception staff were very helpful for 30 euros more the room was lovely!! and more importantly very clean.
Breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice we ate in the restaurant for one evening with friends and the food was excellent.
Being so close to the beach is a real bonus and 15 minutes lovely walk from the port sogreat location.
We own a 4 star hotel in Edinburgh so I am very particular about where I stay and can be critical all comes with doing hospitality for 20 years so dont be put off talk to the staff they are great be nice to people they are nice to you all at Guadalpin was great cant wait to return again.

Room Tip: The double rooms may be ajoining rooms or a little smaller ask for an upgrade thenext step up in roo...

The hotel is located a pleasant 10-15 minute stroll along the beach to Puerto Banus which is good for those wishing to escape the full on hustle and bustle port side.

For our 7 night stay we booked a standard room and have no complaints at all. Check in was fast and the room was clean, a little small inside but I suppose the large terrace area with table & chairs and a sun lounger made up for it. The bathroom was very nice and was stocked daily with luxurious toiletries from Bulgari, nice touch. The pool area was well maintained and brilliant to just sit back & relax with stunning views out onto the beach and ocean.

Again this hotel is an all rounder, good for an escape from the busy port side, but also a perfect location to just stroll along to the shops, bars, restaurants & clubs. I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

My wife and I stayed for a week in November. Overall we had a great week and the location of the hotel is great, only a 15 min walk to puerto Banus. We found the hotel to be very quiet ( obviously the time of year) but that also means most of the amenities (beach bars , restaurants etc) are closed. We had good weather so wanted to go to beach but sun loungers all packed away on beach. Our room was clean and comfortable but their are a few maintenance issues around the hotel, it's definately getting a bit tired. We were half board and the food was very good. Plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner was always good even though we were the only people dining. I would definately go back , but would use it as a base.

Firstly, this relates to a long weekend in November, so probably sheds little light on what to expect in August.

Basically, the hotel was built to a very high standard, hence probably deserved its five star rating originally. We selected a junior suite, and this was large and very well furnished with a large balcony, with chairs table and sofa.

The living room had dining table & chairs and and sofa

Unfortunately, small things let it down a bit - and I guess I'm being picky on behalf of anyone who might pay full price. The bath towels were thin and scratchy and well past their best. The curtain was hanging off. The mattress was lop-sided and not very comfortable.

It was deathly quiet in terms of atmosphere, to be expected out of season I guess. So we can't comment on any of the restaurant or bars.

Navigation to the hotel is a complete nightmare. Three times we got through the Puerto Banus maze to within 250 metres of this large hotel from different directions but assumed we had gone wrong as there were absolutely no signs to encourage us. Even the beach bar shack was better signposted. (And forget Tom-Tom unless it is right up to date, I guess this is a relatively new hotel)

Overall, OK. In the summer I'm sure it is fine but expensive. In the winter, you'll probably get a smaller room but better atmosphere at one of the hotels nearer the centre of PB

Room Tip: The Junior Suite we had was a good room but zero view other that the apartments next door. Third fl...

this hotel has been plagued by financial problems since it first opened and staffing from the start has been poor. I expect they have difficulty recruiting to a place where jobs are insecure. the rooms, however can usually be taken at very sensible rates - go for a suite and use the place as bed and breakfast - also a very good new restaurant opened on the front by Mistral (beach) owners. shows promise. Room Tip: go for a suite - great for parents with young/teenage children.
