“A pretty place to see by day, but by night a different story!”
Reviewed May 21, 2008

I have just returned back from a weekend in puerto banus and am slightly disappointed by the place. Although it is stunning by day with beautiful designer shops and huge yachts, by night i felt a bit unsafe in certain areas and surrounded by old drunken men!

Myself and Best friend decided on going for a girly weekend to have some good meals and go to some nice bars and clubs, but when we found ourselves on the 'strip' it was full of drunken men everywhere and with bar staff harrasing you to go into their bars. There were also lots of prostiutes about and mens clubs and it seems the place is predominantly marketed towards the stag do market. Obviously being may this wasnt the height of the season and so i think during the summer months maybe there are more women and young people.

Despite this we did eat in some great places, Khans indian restaurant was great and astral cocktail bar which are both at the very end of the strip and were out of the way.

Overall I believe this is a place you have to visit at least once, due to it being so renowned. It was very expensive and clubs were at least 25 euros to get in and some were not even very nice. Its very multi cultural and the people are very friendly but i wont be going out of my way to go back here!!!

“Definately not for kids”
Reviewed April 27, 2008

I went here my children who were aged 10 and 7 years old at the time and my nan who was 69. Needless to say that this was not the right place for us. We stayed at a friends apartment which was the only reason we went here. The area itself is really nice and the beaches are ok although you're better off going a bit further awaay from the marina, where they are cleaner. The marina is nice and the bars and restaurants along it were lovely with a wide range to choose from. Look around though because the prices were quite expensive for most things.
It is a short bus ride into Marbella and the fares are reasonable.
There is a market every week but I can't remember if it was on a friday or saturday and this was very busy.
We did enjoy ourselves but this isn't really the right place for children.

“it's been a few years..”
Reviewed March 27, 2008

it's been about 3 years since i've actually been there so this review might no longer be too accurate but i found it to be a really nice place to stay although quite pricy. As i was 14 and then 15 the 2 years i stayed there i didn't experience the nightlife that is so popular there in the back streets but certainly heard all about it. Food wise- everyone should go to yanks, it's not at the marina but up near where the market is held and is well worth a visit, especially for the chicken fajitas. Captain Jacks is good too and there's also a lovely Indian restaurant. In torremilinos there's a good waterpark however i wouldn't recommend trying to drive to it yourself, we encountered a lot of difficulties!!!! The market on Saturdays is good especially the stand with all the jellies and nuts - definitely get some!!!!!

“once or twice - enough!”
Reviewed March 26, 2008

Like others there are many problems when looking a little deeper at PB.
We stayed at San Pedro and came into PB during some days for shopping and once or twice in the eve. On the last night I got my bag snatched after a orchestrated "commotion" was going on - I was one of a few.
Advice would be go in once in the eve to people watch if you wish but hang on to belongings. Day time is quite pleasant and inexpensive lunches in VIPS restaurants.

If venturing into Marbella visit Eddy and Marissa's on the beach and walk past Toni Dalli's - we got food poisoning.

I think you'll find a couple of trips into the marina are enough.

“Seedy - what a disappointment”
Reviewed February 21, 2008

Puerto Banus proved to be one of my biggest disappointments ever!

It certainly attracts the money crowd, and there are plenty of amazing boats, expensive supercars, fabulous designer shops and trendy bars. However, this place appears to be all about reputation and being 'the place to be seen' rather than actually being nice.

Seedy is the only word to describe Puerto Banus by night. The streets are crawling with prostitutes & drug pushers, and cocaine snorting is common in the 'classy' bars. Certainly not the glamourous nightlife I'd expected.

As you'd expect, prices are staggeringly high.

Really not a nice place - Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Monte Carlo or Cannes are much nicer places to mingle with millionaires.
