My husband and I recently spent 9 days at La Villa Marbella, in the heart of Marbella's Old Town, in the Shanghai suite. In a word, our stay was amazing! From the moment we arrived after a long overnight flight from NY, we were greeted with hospitality and friendship. Refreshments on the terrace in the warm Marbella sun, while getting a map personalized with recommendations for dinners and entertainment. Then being led to our thoughtfully appointed room with all amenities from beach towels to wine glasses and tea/coffee to toiletries including toothbrush and sewing kit, and most importantly a powerful hair dryer with European plugs! (no voltage converter required on this trip!). The highlight of the Shanghai suite is the private patio with loungers and a hot tub. Breakfast each day was plentiful and delicious, served personally each morning poolside or in the solarium, along with pleasant discussion and suggestions for the day's activities from the Villa Marbella staff. And with the option to have it served even up to 1pm, we often found ourselves full until dinner time! Marbella is the perfect home base for someone looking to explore the Costa del Sol and Andalucia. And each day before our excursions, Marcos was available at reception to give us detailed maps and suggestions on travel and sightseeing. From Granada and it's Alhambra, to Ronda and Córdoba-- Rick Steves has NOTHING on Marcos Torres!
Coming back each night, whether from an excursion to another city or a lazy day on the beach, was like coming home. We were sad to leave, but returned home relaxed and refreshed. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to visit this amazing place again someday! Many thanks to Marcos and the Villa Marbella team for so much hospitality and making our trip magical.

I just returned from another trip to lovely Marbella, and we chose to stay again at La Villa Marbella. This time we were given an upgrade by Marcos, and we had a lovely room (PHUKET) in a new building, just in front of the older one. The room was very spacious, with high ceiling with wood beams, and a wonderful balcony facing the bouganvilles of the old building. Very romantic!!!
We had dinner in the old town, and also took sime time to visit Ronda. The weather was great and our trip unforgettable!!!
Thanks Marcos and your wonderful crew!!!!

Marcos and the people from La Villa Marbella were so kind to us. They really made our trip, and I can't say enough nice things about them. They looked after us wonderfully and recommended the best restaurants and sights. You must stay here in Marbella!

We knew when we booked that there was a very good chance that La Villa Marbella would be a good choice given the very high number of positive recommendations. Little did we know that the reality would far exceed the expectation.

The hotel is in a series of closely located buildings in the quaint old town and the rooms offer exactly what you would expect of a very good boutique hotel. Everything has been carefully chosen to give a relaxed and unfussy feel and it's hard to see what more you could wish for.

What really set this hotel apart from many others that we have stayed in was the genuine care, consideration and attention that all the staff pay to ensuring that you feel welcome and important to them. I cannot think of anywhere I have stayed where the manager gave his time so willingly to make the stay such a pleasure. Full of helpful advice, friendly chat and a real professionalism, Marcos and his team are the epitome of superb customer service.

We arrived fairly early and the room we had booked had not yet been vacated so Marcos suggested we may wish to try another room for our first 2 nights before moving back to our original choice. The room was a significant upgrade and was thoroughly enjoyable and when the 2 nights had passed Marcos cryptically mentioned that he would surprise us later. When we returned to the hotel that evening our bags had been moved to a 2 story luxury apartment which was simply breathtaking. There was clearly no need for this but it turned a very enjoyable break into something really special that we will always remember.

The old town is a perfect location for good food and ambience and the personal touch at La Villa Marbella make this a fantastic place to spend a few days.

This hotel, Le Villa Marbella, is a real gem, an amazing find. It's a very short 3 minute walk from Orange Square, THE place to go in old Marbella. The hotel is spread in 5 traditional villas, just a few metres away from the main reception part. Our room was up one flight of stairs and the room was beautifully clean and presentable. Not huge, but absolutely adequate. The welcome from the gentleman on duty in reception at 7.30 in the evening was a refreshing change from so many impersonal hotels. Friendly, helpful, charming is the order of the day here. After a great nights sleep, we walked back down to the main reception area, as breakfast was on the top floor there. A rooftop oasis. Terrific breakfast, again, served in charming style by the waitress, who spoke perfect English, as did all the staff. When we checked out, personally administered by the owner/manager, once again, they could not be more helpful, but in such a natural, genuine fashion, it certainly does not come across as being a chore for them. We were invited to return at any time during our stay in Marbella for a coffee, which we were unable to do, but it was nice to be asked. And lastly, when other hotels were quoting me €250 for the night, Le Villa Marbella at HALF that, is a real bargain, and not to be missed

We visited La Villa Marbella for a long weekend. We had a room called Shanghai, which was a bit querky with a 4-poster bed, private terrace and best of all its own private hot tub. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was delightful. We sat by the swimming pool and enjoyed our breakfast at a time which entirely suited us. What marked out this hotel is the absolutely terrific service at this hotel. I have never encountered such wonderful staff, from Bolivar who greeted us when we arrived, to the truly wonderful Marcus, who gave us helpful ideas about where to go and where to eat. He arranged tickets for us and checked on bus times. Marcus exemplified the staff - helpful, always pleasant and very warm. Even the taxi driver they organised for us was marvellous. I cannot recommend this too highly. The staff made this a really marvellous and relaxing time. Simply a great hotel and well worth a visit.

I chose this hotel due to the spotless list of recommendations from tripadvisor. I agree that the service from the staff during the day, is equal to what you get at a very good 5star hotel. From 10 pm untill 8 in the morning you need to speak spanish, if something comes up. For me as an english, german, danish speaker there is not much, I can do. As the attention from every other staff was very good, I give maximum points for the service.

As for the location. Around marbella there are 3 different places, that deserves 5 stars: puerto banus, the golden mile and central marbella old town. Its a matter of personal taste. This hotel is located in a charming, narrow residential street. 1 point off due to challenging accessability. Please note, that you will have to accept the at times very loud local "touch", if you choose a room facing the street.

My room (angkor) was facing a neat little courtyard. It is a VERY small room and I wont recommend it for more than one person. Bed is average and tall enough to stow your luggage underneath it, which is neccessary as there is only a small wardrobe. They only give you clean sheets every 3rd day, so make sure you don´t put something in the bed, you wont like to be there the next 1-2 days. Only the hotel manager decides, if you can have your sheets changed or not. As for me being ill, this was not so nice. Bathroom is OK.

The hotel is spread over severel buildings. My room was in "the courtyard". This building has free, very slow, internet (wifi). This works in the sittingroom and in the courtyard. Once in the room with the door closed, the signal is gone. A faster connection is offered at the roof top terrace in the main building. Sat TV did not work during the weekend either and could not be fixed untill monday.

In one sentence: The hotel is a fully normal, slightly overpriced boutique hotel serving an average breakfast.
