“Good hotel with a little room for improvement for that real 4* experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for five nights in September. The hotel is nice, the pool area is very relaxed with plenty of sun beds for everyone. There's also an adults only pool for premium guests.

Our room was a basic double, plenty of room over looking the pool. We didn't experience much noise from the pool area, apart from the Friday night entertainment which was very loud!

In general it's quite noisy in terms of being able to hear your neighbours or upstairs. I guess it depends on how noisy they are tho!

We thought the standard of cleanliness in our room could have been slightly higher eg there was a couple of hairs in the bathroom when we arrived and some dirt on a chair cushion.

We didn't bring a travel iron with us, so asked reception if they would have one we could borrow. They didn't, but do have an ironing service at 3euros a top. Considering we had a suitcase full of clothes that needed ironing we decided against this as it would have worked out cheaper to go and buy an iron!

Generally speaking the hotel prices are fair eg only 5euros for two cokes and a coffee or 6 for two large beers. Food prices are also fair and the food is nice.

Breakfast is good with plenty to choose from from breads, cold meats, croissants, cakes, fruit, hot bacon, eggs etc and also cooked to order pancakes and Spanish omelettes. Breakfast is available until 11am so no need to get up too early either!

We felt that it would be useful to have a little shop on site, as there aren't any nearby.

In terms of location, as clearly stated on their website, it isn't in Puerto Banus. It does, however, offer a free shuttle bus twice per day which is fine. Failing that a taxi is about 10 euros.

The TV only had two English channels and they took some finding (85 and 87).

Some people had commented about the staff, but we found them fine. Hardworking and attentive.

There is free wifi although a little inconsistent in terms of being able to connect, but generally good.

All in all we had an enjoyable stay.

Travelled here in august with a group of 11 females you could not fault the standards of the hotel BUT the attitude of some of the staff left a bitter taste , some never acknowledged you and made you feel you were not welcome ... The other let down was the food some of us have stayed in Barcelo hotels before and thought the food was better in the others . We still had an enjoyable stay the pool area was divine with plenty of beds and would recommend for a short stay .

Perfect parking for our car and fantastic golffields.
We had a very nice stay and plan to come back soon.

Room Tip: Club premium was the best choice of room

We booked this holiday last minute as an alternative to our cancelled holiday to Egypt. Myself and my husband and our two teenage children. The hotel reviews on line were very worrying especially regarding location and staff attitude. We had nothing to worry about. The hotel is in a beautiful location by the mountains in the exclusive residential area of Guadalmina. Most of the guests were locals (Spanish) the staff were not overly friendly but were not horrible either. We arrived early in the morning and were allowed early check in for one of the rooms. The only complaint about the rooms is that we were given rooms on the ground floor overlooking the street and the car park entrance. Had we been given rooms on a higher floor with a view of the mountains it would have been perfect. The rooms themselves are massive and very comfortable. The air conditioning (that some reviewers complained about) was absolutely fine. We booked half board and the food was ok (breakfast was extremely busy, one needed to choose the less crowded times) but the choice of food was good and quality was ok.
This Hotel is not by the beach however you can take a free shuttle bus that takes you to several beaches some are free to enter some need you to pay.
On the whole this could have been the prefect stay if it wasn't for a few small things that would have made it better:
• room with a view
• slightly friendlier staff
• Water bottles in the room (we had to buy water all the time for 1.5 Euros for small one)
• less screaming children everywhere :-)

If you have children under the age of 10 this is a perfect place for you.
We will definitely consider staying here again.

I have stayed at Barcelo Golf Marbella two years now, last year in April and this year in June. I'm not a golfer, it isnt necessary despite the Hotel name! Of the two visits I much preferred April, out of season, if you like to be away from the hustle and bustle of seaside resorts then this would be a good place to go. This year we stayed in June and the hotel was full of woman footballers from all over the world although later in the week it became quieter when they left. The swimming pool area is very relaxing, the rooms are delightful. Position of the hotel suited me away from busy town areas but of course travelling into town would require taxi so allow for the added cost of travelling or be prepared for a long, hot walk. Very nice hotel and staff extremely helpful. I would certainly return

Room Tip: View over the swimming pool gives you sunshine at some part of the day.

Well,, where to start.
We stayed here for 3 nights before going on to a villa.
We had a delux room which we upgraded for 30€ a night. But, for a bigger room and spa bath you have to sacrifice your balcony it would seem as you do not get one.
That said it was a very nice room.
Pool area was clean but lots issues with water drains left open. Very dangerous to say the least.
Staff are not the happiest. Especially in the breakfast room. I think if you decide to work in an industry that your customer focused you should have at least a little customer care skills.
Food for breakfast was however not to bad. Same every day. But was expected.
The location is miles from anywhere. No shops nearby. So very out of the way 15 €taxi ride to Banus.
This is predominately a Spanish hotel with Spanish tourists.
Lastly,, the lifts! I cannot put into words how rediculous they are. We were on the top floor. Once we waited 10 minutes for the lift. Then took the stairs. The work in no logical order. Just going to the nearest floor of the last button pressed. Again on occasions getting out Middway and taking the stairs. I can't believe this is not the Bain if the hotels existence with complaints. If I was here for a week I would lose 2 stone from using the stairs.
All in all. If it was cheaper to stay here you would except this. But to expensive for what you get.
This is a 3* hotel at best.
Hence the other hit and miss reviews
An honest opinion. !!
