If you require "hotel service" - this is a wrong door. go downhill and look for ***-hotels there.

If you are young at heart and If roof&bed are the only things you need on your vacation then this is the best option! extreamily cheap for such a well-known rich place, as Marbella is. Location is perfect: just between the city beach (700m downhill) and the bus-station (400m uphill), just above the downtown, and close to groccery store (across the road) and the japanese garden.

visitors are different: multilingva youth from all around the globe, eldery, sometimes kids (schoolgroups)

very cooperative personell: normally you reserve beds, not rooms, but we called by the phone in advance, and asked them about 1 room for two of us, and they provided one! we were lucky! they also gave us good advises where to go and what to see. (granada, malaga reachable by bus) all of them spoke good english, and one even spoke Russian!

bonuses: good food in the canteen, swimming pool, personal lockers.
no air condition: was not needed, nights were cool, and at noon we were never in.
minuses: common bathrooms, thin doors -- but that is _always_ like that in _hostels_.

This property is located in the top a big road, in the upper zone of Marbella. It has a lot of space, a big pool&garden, big common rooms and our room was spacious too, with a good and clean bathroom.
The only "problem" for us was the noise, there were lots of teenagers in the building and you know how they are when they are together: the pool was overcrowded at everytime, so the canteen. It was not really a problem because they didn't bother too much and during the night they were quiet.
We had our own car but it seemed to me that it was a bit distant from the beach. Marbella is the typical south Spain town: beach, sun and fun.
But please don't miss Ronda, it is in the mountains (30 km??) but it is absolutely ASTONISHING. When you arrive there you will discover why I've said that....

I stayed in this hostel in March and was very impressed by its spaciousness and setting, very close to the centre of Marbella and near the bus station. The staff were friendly (some spoke English) and it is so cheap. I shared a room and it could have been noisy if the surrounding rooms had been full. It may also get quite hot later in the year. When I went it was quiet and cool, and the gardens were perfect for relaxing in. The swimming pool was full and looked beautiful but was closed. The hostel served a basic continental breakfast but I believe more meals are offered later in the year. I would certainly recommend it for a Spring break
