“Very upsetting experience”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

I stayed with a group of 5 other friends for a weekend away before my wedding. On first impressions things were quite good, the pools looked great and the appartments were spacious. However while sitting by the pool on our second day we watched the cleaner enter our room, thought nothing of it and after we noticed her leave we went back to our room to get changed only to find our bags had been very descreetly searched and 140 euros stollen. We had been sitting around the indoor pool opposite our room so knew exactly who had gone in and out of our room and it was only the cleaner!! I was so upset, I reported it to the front desk and asked them to call the police. They basically said the police would not do anything and the cleaner was contracted from an outside company so there was nothing they could do. They assured us this had never happend before however we sopke to another group of people at the bar that night who said it had happened to them too a few days before. We confronted the front desk again and were verbally attacked by the member of staff on duty, he was rude and agressive and called us liars! I was in pieces. As we were leaving the same member of staff actually appologised, took my email address and said he would email me to confirm a free week at a Vime resort. I am still waiting for this email - I am not holding out much hope!!

I needed a rest just before Christmas and booked 9 days bed and breakfast. It was very quiet which was what I wanted and the staff were lovely. The accommodation was a small house with its own front door and a balcony and roof terrace, it was clean if slightly tired. The location is quite a way from the beach, across a main road but there is a bridge very close, however the hotel has a huge clean pool and also an indoor pool. I had a couple of evening meals in the hotel, the main restaurant was closed as there were so few people in residence, but the meals and service in the small poolside bar and restaurant were fine and sensibly priced.
There is a good bus service into Fuengirola one way and Marbella the other way, the small places in between are also good for a stop and a glass of wine and some tapas in the small bars.
If you cross the bridge immediately down from the hotel and head towards the sea, you will find a very nice restaurant/bar almost on the beach where it is good to watch the sun go down over a glass or two. The food is also of a good standard and not too expensive.
I would certainly book this hotel again. Lyn/Clitheroe, Lancashire.

We are still at the hotel and are very impressed so far. The food is always plentiful and there is always a very good variety. We have had everything from hot dogs to many local foods such as bulls tail and numerous fish dishes. The rooms are in need of some modernisation but are clean and warm. The location is out of the main resorts but if you are on AI or have a car this ain't a problem!!!! All the waiting staff are very attentive and polite. All in all we are having a very good holiday although the weather is poor!!!!! But the alcohol is flowing!!

The best thing I can say about this resort is that it is close to the bus stop and the Rancho restaurant across the highway is excellent. The resort is well maintained on the outside but the units are disappointing to say the least. If you decide to do your own cooking be prepared to bring your own dish soap and towels. We ate off the plates the first night and then realized that soap is not provided so probably the plates, glasses and cutlery had just been rinsed by the previous tenants.....yuk! Won't be going back to this one!

My husband & i stayed here on AI basis in sept and were ok with the food for what we paid,it was the bar we were dissatisfied with! Not being big drinkers during the day, we like to enjoy a few wines after dinner, but there was a CO aNSTANT queue. therefore drinks were very limited, especially as bar closes at 11 !! Also, AI FINISHES at midday and our flight wasnt until midnight, consequently, we had to pay for lunch, drinks, and evening meal, very poor!! Also, they charged us 40euros JUST to keep our room on and for that we didnt even get clean towels let alone have it cleaned! Was this expecting too much of a 4* hotel??? Dont even mention location! Stuck in the middle of nowhere AND a 30 minute walk across a motorway to the beach, which ,i must add was mostly nudist. Entertainment was abysmal, on the nights there was any! No ....... dont go there!!

Room Tip: Not good to have a room as far from the bar and restaurant as we had, almost on the main road!

Went to La Reserva last week for a 4 night break, with my wife, 2 daughters and 19 year old grandaughter, we stayed in two apartments on an A/I basis.
Booking in was quick and friendly, which was good news as we arrived at 10.30pm and the all inclusive finished at 11pm, which when consider there is little or no options locally is not good news. The apartments were fine, plenty of room on two floors with everything we needed, we even had a washing machine. We had requested a food package as we had missed dinner, and that was fine.
Lets start with the good;
The apartments are absolutely fine, spacious, with a big terrace and a rear seating area, downstairs loo which is a good idea. TV had just Sky News and CNN available in English.
The grounds are well kept, the bar area, is pleasant, but fairly compact. The pools seem fine, plenty of sunbeds, indoor pool and gym, all ok.Waiter service at dinner which is nice touch.
the not so good.
The food is truly appalling, with little choice. Breakfast was dull, toasting bread ran out. it was all very dull. Lunch and dinner was much worse, soup on only two ocassions, hotdog sausages and fried eggs as a previous reviewer has mentioned, but also, when have you ever seen, frog-fish, weird-fish, perch and pig's cheek on a hotel buffet. Mussels were available one evening , but most of the shells hadn't opened, not good. The food that was tried was cold and of a very poor quality. Fortunately the hotel's snack bar was excellent, with a reduced rate for A/I guests...so do they expect you to need it?
The entertainment was really non-existent. A young lady sloped up ocassionally during the day "Wanna play darts" she drawled " No thanks" came the replies "ok" and she sloped off.
In the evening for two nights, just one game of bingo, with the prize of a bottle of cava. We decided to have a go and were handed a home-made card and a handfull of shingle to cover the numbers with. The whole entertainment lasted about 20 minutes. On the other night we stayed in, it was a reptile show...great! We had two days of rain, when there was a captive audience in the bar and lounge area, crying out to have a quiz, a game....or even bingo, sadly the "Head of Entertainment" was nowhere to be seen.
With a little effort, La Reserva could be really good. Sack or shoot the chef, employ someone with enthusiasm and a little skill to run activities and entertainment, make use of the large apartment terraces with a couple of sunbeds on each one. Even though La Reserva is not really a purpose build hotel (former timeshare) it could be good.
Although hotel is a little off the beaten track, the bus stop to Marbella / Fuengirola is only 2 minutes away and costs just over £1 one way. There is an excellent chinese restaurant called Hong Kong situated in a deserted shoping centre, again just 2 mins away. About 3 other restaurants are also available nearby. There is a good sized local supermarket called OpenCor within 5 mins. walk which opens all hours and has all the basics.
All in all, you think....what a shame, ok apartments, and grounds etc really badly let down by the food and activity programme...we wouldn't go back as it is.

Room Tip: a room near the pool and bar area saves a fair old walk...especially if it's raining

My boyfriend & I booked this hotel on the Friday & flew out on Monday - due to the short notice & only wanting 3 nights, there wasn't a lot of choice available. We read the reviews for this hotel, but decided to go for it & draw our own conclusions!! So glad we did - everything was just about as perfect as it gets. we had no transfer included in our package, but being the independent & adventurous sorts, we made our own way there on the train from the airport to Fuengirolla & then the bus to the resort. Luckily I am familiar with the area, so we found this an easy process. The bus stops right outside the main entrance to the hotel.
We were greeted very warmly & ushered straight to the restaurant for our lunch as it was due to close in 5 mins. Very impressed with the food - lots of choice & something for everyone (unless of course you are expecting burgers/pizza & fish & chips - in which case - Blackpool should be the destination of your choice rather than Spain!! When in Spain - eat Spanish!! We can only assume this is what is meant by all the negative reviews on the food!
Our room was lovely - it was NOT outdated as some say, but merely decorated in the 'SPANISH' style! Fabulous bathroom, with an amazing shower (room for 2!) The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels. NOTHING was touched in our room, this may be due to the fact that we left a 2 euro tip on the bed each morning with a note saying 'Gracias'. A little respect & gratitude for the staff goes a long way!
The pool area was very pleasant, with plenty of sunbeds to go around, however, bearing in mind that this was end of September & fairly quiet, I can imagine that due to the size of the complex, this could be a problem in peak season (tip - don't go in July & August if this could cause you an issue!) There were very few children around, so it was very peaceful & relaxing (again - due to time of year!)
There was only 1 main bar open, but never seemed to be a problem - the bar staff were very cheerful & friendly & very efficient. We didn't feel the drinks were watered down (& we had PLENTY of them!!) but even if they were - the extremely generous measures more than counteracted their weakness! This was my first experience of all inclusive & I loved the fact that we could have practically whatever & as much as we wanted - cocktails galore!
We took a walk to the local beach - about 10 mins across the road & then along the beach to Cabopino beach (past a nudist beach on the way - very interesting!)
We also caught the local bus into Marbella - they run every 20 mins & cheap as chips - no need for expensive taxis!
The hotel is indeed quite isolated, but as this is what we wanted, it wasn't a problem for us.

We really struggle to see why the need for all the negative reviews on this hotel - what do people want when they go to Spain? It is a foreign country - they eat/decorate & operate completely differently from us! (the sand also does get very hot in mid summer & dolphins are NOT guaranteed on boat trips!!) We had a thoroughly amazing time here & would not hesitate to go back or to recommend it to others.

I truly believe that it is all about attitude & if you are looking for something to complain about - you will find it! We went away for my boyfriends 50th birthday determined to have a great time & we certainly had that at this hotel! (they even gave us a bottle of champagne for dinner on his birthday!)

Go to this hotel & decide for yourself!
