“Good for a walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

If you can negotiate the narrow, car filled streets, and then park, (the public car park is often full) this is an area worth exploring. Strolling along by the sea, passing Dali & Soriano sculptures along the way plus the obligatory people watching, you can while away many an hour. There are many restaurants, shops and cafes to explore too.

“Lovely area for a stroll with plenty of restaurants & cafes close by”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

The Avenida del Mar used to be covered by a large flower garden with earth paths and park benches. In the 1990s it was excavated and converted into an underground car park, now covered by ivory coloured marble and bronze statues by Eduardo Soriano and Salvador Dali. There are many excellent restaurants, cafeterias and pubs that surround the Avenida & at the end of the avenue is Venus Beach - Playa el Fuerte. At the top end is the Parque Alameda, full of exotic trees, marble paths and ceramic tiled benches.
The underground car park is ideally placed for this area of Marbella. Then wander around taking in the statues, resting in the shade of the park and having a bite to eat close by.

“Very lively beach, beautiful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Went there 8/2013. This is a beautiful walkway leading to a very live,y boardwalk and great beach with very nice views. The boardwalk is full of restaurants and shops to keep you entertained. The beach is busy, but room is always available. The walkway is lined with Dali sculptures, with the beach as background. Off the beach, there is a huge square with endless restaurants, shopping, walking and people watching. The whole area makes for a great day at the beach with something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit.

“Best for parking in Marbella”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We go for several weeks in the summer and drive from the UK in a huge 4x4 which seats all the family when they come out to join us. So it is a pain in Marbella's narrow streets, made worse by the amazingly inconsiderate parking of the locals! So the car park under the Avenida del Mar is easy to reach off the main road and easy to access (plenty of headroom for a 4x4). It is not expensive, scrupulously clean even with little green/red lights over each parking spot to indicate where there's one available, a lift, piped classical music and clean toilets.
It also emerges into Avenida del Mar, a pedestrianised road linking the park with fountains in the centre of the town, with the promenade. The car park exits emerge directly into the Avenida and it is a few steps to the sea front or up into the Old Town.
The Avenida also has plenty of restaurants and bars and is decorated with sculptures of dubious quality - but the thought is there!
