Owner description: Marbella Golf Country Club is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, just five minutes away from the cosmopolitan city of Marbella. It is considered one of the best and most challenging golf courses in Spain. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Senior in the late 80's and occupying one of the largest remaining green areas on the Costa del Sol, the 6.000 meter long 18-hole links course with a par of 72, has been imaginatively designed to respect the natural terrain and make the most of the spectacular Mediterranean backdrop. Each hole is uniquely challenging. There are numerous cleverly placed bunkers and lakes which will have to be successfully negotiated if you are to achieve a decent score. The course blends in perfectly with the lush natural surroundings which include rolling green hills and olive trees, and is a joy to play it for a perfect Spain golf holidays.

Played here last time in october 2007. It could be because of the earlier time of visit this year, but the golf course was in much better condition and well looked after. Good experience. Clubhouse restaurant staff very friendly. Nice atmosphere.

Played two years ago and the greens now are quicker but is this good for players like myself that are average?
Condition is also very average to poor, with soaked areas in fairways and a bone dry driving range and patchy dry fairways.....
Lots of boar damage it would appear and the entrance was half dug up..... Not what is expected when paying more than atalaya golf for example. Club house looks smarter but golf course has gone downhill.

MG&CC is up in the hills and the course is quite hilly so you will need a buggy. It is a pleasure to drive round though so worth the effort going up there

It's a lovely well kept course, the clearly with heritage and history but for me the downsides out weighed the ups.

Good:
Super greens. Fast, true and soft with plenty of bite.
Fairways were in nice condition, especially as you approach the green.

Bad:
Too short. Very few holes allowed for a driver off the tee.. Many holes forced you to hit medium irons and lay up. It got tiresome to play so conservatively.

Annoyances;
The pro shop where you pay green fees is run separately from the driving range. You can not buy tokens for range balls there and only cash is accepted to buy balls. Basically if you have no cash you can't use the driving range.

The course was not in the best of condition. Some lovely views. Take a jumper as it can get cold when you are at some high holes. The greens were average.Pay a twighlight rate for best value. Receptionist very helpful.
