Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will return without a doubt. The staff are friendly the rooms are clean and it's a brilliant location for a base to see what Marbella has to offer. The rooms are spacious but a little tired. 3 minute walk to the beach. 15 min walk to the old town with all its lovely restaurants and little boutiques.

The rooms are very spacious, and kept clean, but the decor doesn't look like it's changed from the 70's, apart from the big LCD television. The male receptionist was really off hand on arrival. He offered no information on the hotel except our room number. There is free wi-fi in the reception area which I knew from reading reviews. A girl on reception later was much more helpful.
The buffet breakfast is average, but there are plenty of pastries and some fruit if you can't manage the rubbery bacon and eggs. The breakfast opened at 8.30am, which coincided with our airport transfer time. We asked if that meant we'd miss breakfast the answer was "Yes!".

It was wonderful to have an apartment as my husband was there on business and frequently worked through the night and a separate living room was so much better than just a hotel room. We used the kitchen for breakfast, a grocery store was at the corner. "Tired" in describing the furnishings is a gross understatement. When this place was built I'm sure it was spectacular. Be sure to bring your own shampoo and soap. The front desk help could have been a bit more professional. But as others have said, it is in a great location, especially for a conference or meeting at the Congress Center.

....just back from 7 days in Marbella, stayed at the Hotel Sultan. You can not beet the distance to the beach, the city and all of the surrounding activities, but the hotel itself looked very tied and is in need of a big overhaul!
We stayed on the third floor in an apartment overlooking the street and it was pretty quiet of the nearby intersection.
The rooms were clean, the kitchen had everything and more (washer/dryer) you need and the maid service was fast and very efficient. The bathroom was missing a proper hairdryer, no tissue or a make up mirror, but the beds were very firm and we got a great good night sleep!
Pool area was shaded by big trees and the water cold, did not looked very inviting.
Feel a little bit taken for a ride, when I had to pay extra for the safe in the room.... or the internet, or more towels, but I guess we are a bit spoiled by the hotel services in the US.

Room Tip: skip the breakfast in the hotel and enjoy a wonderful meal at Ronda-Caffee, just 5 min. walk .

Have stayed here many times, love the location & the accomodation size. My fav room is 210 extra large corner balcony, the balconies here are very big, enough room for 2 loungers and table & 4 chairs. Everything could do with up dating decor wise but yet everything works and everything is clean. Location is supberb

This is a really good place to stay-in a great location. Yes it is a bit tired and past its hey-day but the apartment we had was huge and clean, double balcony, strong hot shower, washing machine and attentive cleaning lady... Breakfast great for the kids (two boys of 12) but we gave it a miss mostly.
The shady pool suited us but if you want to sunbathe it could be annoying- towels on beds not tolerated-hooray.
Its the location that makes it- lovely view from balcony and no noise at night but still so close to beach and town. We went to the supermarket across the road under the furniture shop- it was perfect and prices everywhere good -but things are a changing.
We found a friendly Tapas bar a five minute walk away (Gambrinus) full of locals and always nice and busy and ate at the Banana Tree for the boys to watch footie a couple of times- couldn't fault it. The last night at Los Tres Pepe on the beach- wish we'd gone earlier.
The guys on the reception distinctly frosty -oh well ,just glad had no real problems to trouble them with. It was such a good holiday -love Marbella, watching all the people......chill- axed .

Room Tip: sea facing rooms at the end of the corridors have double balcony and drying room.

Although we had a great hol in Marbella and enjoyed location of Sultan Club the pool area definitely lets it down, first of all you cant get in until 10.30 and when you do its very dark and crowded area, certainly doesnt get the sun until around noon and then only in parts, the sunbeds are a disgrace and should be replaced..............having said that the apartments are huge if a bit dated , we were lucky and had a huge sunny balcony overlooking pool so that solved our sunbathing problem. If you are a beach person then this shouldnt worry you and you will prob have a great time here, as I say location cant be beat and the apartments tho old are very clean...

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking pool if you like the sun in afternoon til late at night......
