This is a really good place to stay-in a great location. Yes it is a bit tired and past its hey-day but the apartment we had was huge and clean, double balcony, strong hot shower, washing machine and attentive cleaning lady... Breakfast great for the kids (two boys of 12) but we gave it a miss mostly.
The shady pool suited us but if you want to sunbathe it could be annoying- towels on beds not tolerated-hooray.
Its the location that makes it- lovely view from balcony and no noise at night but still so close to beach and town. We went to the supermarket across the road under the furniture shop- it was perfect and prices everywhere good -but things are a changing.
We found a friendly Tapas bar a five minute walk away (Gambrinus) full of locals and always nice and busy and ate at the Banana Tree for the boys to watch footie a couple of times- couldn't fault it. The last night at Los Tres Pepe on the beach- wish we'd gone earlier.
The guys on the reception distinctly frosty -oh well ,just glad had no real problems to trouble them with. It was such a good holiday -love Marbella, watching all the people......chill- axed .

Room Tip: sea facing rooms at the end of the corridors have double balcony and drying room.

Although we had a great hol in Marbella and enjoyed location of Sultan Club the pool area definitely lets it down, first of all you cant get in until 10.30 and when you do its very dark and crowded area, certainly doesnt get the sun until around noon and then only in parts, the sunbeds are a disgrace and should be replaced..............having said that the apartments are huge if a bit dated , we were lucky and had a huge sunny balcony overlooking pool so that solved our sunbathing problem. If you are a beach person then this shouldnt worry you and you will prob have a great time here, as I say location cant be beat and the apartments tho old are very clean...

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking pool if you like the sun in afternoon til late at night......

Spent 9 days recently. Great location , ok less than 10 mins to the beach and promenade bars and resturants. Food a bit drab in most places all the same, go to the old town for something different about 20 min walk. Apart Hotel not at all a hotel, but good services in apartments, decor outdated, beds so uncomfortable air con a bit dated not very good, no good info on things to do anywhere, pool very small for sunbathing covered in palm trees and gardens not well maintained or balcony gardens even saw rats ! Clean interior. Ok but would not recommend or go again

Was concerned after reading all the reviews but am happy to say we had a great time
For those who say decor a bit tired etc they must look at the location ie amazing and the cost ie very low
Things were a little dated but spotless clean and the maid did a great job everyday
It was very quiet and you can walk everywhere
The pool area is small and only sunny at certain times of day but again very clean and nice
To stay somewhere really smart in same location would cost over 2x as much ( I checked)
We went as a family and it was fine
I do see this as the perfect place for couples on a budget groups of fr I ends getting away
Don't have breakfast as was not great and plenty of inexpensive places walking distance
Bit tight only having free wifi in lobby but have heard this is true of most places in Spain
I would recommend

Just back from a 10 night stay at this hotel and it was really excellent. It is in a really great location in that you are a 10 minute walk to the beach front (turn right out of the hotel entrance) where you will find an excellent range of bars and restaurants. The marina area is particularly good for bars and you get a chance to mix with some of the locals. Also if you turn left out of the hotel and go upon onto the main road you are about a 15-20 minute into the old town which is really worth it as it is also full of lovely restaurants and nice shops and has a really authentic Spanish feel about it.
Also on the main road there are a couple of really good supermarkets. There is an Open Cor very close by but keep walking for another couple of minutes and you will find a Mercadonna which is a much more local supermarket and has everything you could possibly need.
The apartments are very spacious and whilst some people have complained about the decor being old fashioned or tired I think they are just being fussy. The decor is very spanish in style and very clean so what more do you want. The kitchen is one of the best I have came across in Spain and includes a washing machine and dish washer. Yes, not what you go on holiday for but we found this really handy and I am sure most familys would. Also we had huge balcony which had the sun from 2pm onwards so we had our own private sunbathing area. The pool area is nice but does not open until 10.30am which at first was a bit of surprise however the sun does not really clear on the surrounding buildings so this works out fine. The indoor pool is really nice and hotel guests can use the indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna - it is just beauty treatments that cost. However you do have to wear a bathing cap to use the indoor pool but you get one of those plastic ones in the room so these are ideal.
I don't think the hotel is particularly child family (I don't mean that in a bad way) but there is no play area for the kids, or kids club, for my husband and I this was just perfect. Also the pool area has no thumpy music which again was ideal. Also the furniture in apartments was glass and iron so again not family friendly.

All-in-all a great hotel for adults. Well done the Hotel Sultan Club !

Room Tip: See if you can get the top floor then you can sunbathe on your wn balconey

The Sultan Club accomodated our every need, a very clean and friendly environment and the room was pleasing too. Very ample kitchen area included were microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, hob etc. big lounge area with TV also with some english channels leading onto a big patio area overlooking the pool. 1 down side the pool was a bit overlooked and overshadowed from buildings and trees so limited time available to sunbathe by pool. Bedroom with twin beds and plenty of wardrobe space leading onto large ensuite. Location of this hotel is roughly a 10min drive from the bars and clubs of puerto banus but is nice to be able to escape it. The nightlife is amazing, if you're into places where people seem to think money is no object then this is the place for your stag and hen. Plenty of like minded people celebrating one thing or another. The hotel itself gets a big thumbs up and would happily stay there on a stag party again, not so sure i would stay with my wife and 2 small children!!

This Hotel was probably good in its day however I was so dissapointed, it just wasent the standard we are used to. We where only staying for 4 nights so it wasent too bad but it was just so dated and although they appeard to be cleaning a lot it just didnt feel or look clean. I have to say the room was spacious with a kitchen area and sitting area but a kitchen is the last thing i want to see when i am away. The small dinning area for breakfast only was ok with lovley white table cloths and it was rather plesant the actual breakfast was ok ish. My biggest disapointment was the pool area it was just awful, it was grubby and the sun didnt appear utill noon, the sun loungers where minging and the pool looked unclean, there was no atmosphere and no bar at the pool area, they did not do snacks and the only thing available was ice cream. The location of this hotel was ok not far from the main area where all the bars and restraunts are but i definaltly would not stay or recommend this hotel if you are used to good 5 star hotels.
