We booked a ! bedroom suite for 4 nights with breakfast only for £1398.00 which was supposed to have a sea view. Yes you can see the sea, but the view is totally blocked by trees in the adjacent undeveloped land. The staff are very unhelpful, and theirs a queue in the morning for breakfast. The prices are very expensive at the bar. 2 x small glasses of beer (not even half a pint) and 1 x pimms and lemonade came to 20 Euros.
Water to make tea/coffee in the room is only provided on the first night. All other nights theres nothing and to make a cup of tea, you have to get water from the sink of which the kettle doesn't fit.
When it came to check out, even though we hadn't had anything from the minbar, they charged us 6 Euros for ICE. When we complained, they spent 20 minutes discussing it before they finally took it off the bill.
Will not be going back.

Room Tip: The good rooms only see the pool.

We came to Lia Monteros on the recommendation of friends who come many times each year and can't talk highly enough about the place. And we weren't disappointed. This beautiful hotel is set in a gorgeous landscaped setting. The hotel is spotless and the decor has been designed with great taste. The rooms are spacious and the large bed was so comfortable. I had the best night sleep in years. The pool and gardens are beautifully maintained. Breakfast is just outstanding The Cabana beach club is just a short buggy ride away and is heavenly. We met friends there and thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday buffet event. There was such a wide range of top quality food that we were absolutely spoilt for choice. The chef would cook fish or meat to such a high standard in front of you. This event is worth every Euro it costs. I'd really recommend it but make sure you are hungry! The staff at every level could not have been more friendly or helpful. But a special shout out to the lady on reception Edie, who helped us to get our windscreen replaced in our car by a local car workshop in Marbella. Her help was way over what you would normally receive. Thank you all for a fantastic stay. We will definitely be back.

Stayed for 5 nights recently. When booking the bed and breakfast was informed about the offer for 60+ ie free upgrade to full board for myself and my friend. Sounds great, but they omitted to tell us that we would have the same menu for lunch and dinner and that we would only be able to sit at certain tables without a tablecloth (not 5 *) and that the dessert menu was the same every day. We were made to feel like second class citizens and the service at lunchtime was dreadful. At dinner they almost ignored us and obviously preferred to serve the a la carte diners.
The room was good with ample room and wardrobe facilities, and the bathroom was a good size. When I used the jacuzzi bath the nozzles were filthy, very disappointing.
Also only one free bottle of water was provided throughout the stay, not even every day.
When you compare this hotel with other 5* facilities at other locations, this hotel does not provide very good value. They really need to modernise and provide real 5* service with amenable staff.
On the plus side it was nice to have a day included at La Cabane and fortunately the day we visited was excellent sunbathing weather. But the cost otherwise is ridiculous.
All in all, I don't think I will return as there are other hotels in other locations providing much better value for money, which is what holidays are all about.

Room Tip: the ground floor rooms near to the spa are good with a private balcony

Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds and pool. Check in was easy for us but not so easy for members of our wedding. Reception made a fuss about bridesmaids changing in the room. We had to complain to avoid being charged 40 euros per person! Mind you the manager was great but the initial receptionist was truly very rude to my mother.
But we had a bottle of champagne in our room waiting for us which was lovely.
Breakfast is great here with service being prompt too, restaurant service for lunch is a bit missing however, the staff often get simple orders wrong. (3 x wrong in 3 days).

Overall i would return, drinks and the pool are worthwhile.

Worth noting, La cabane is not included in your stay - i saw many guests complaining about this, but to be fair to the hotel it does indicate clearly that La cabane is not free with your stay. They have their price list online too.

Firstly our Suite was lovely, great size lots of wardrobe space and separate WC area. Positives of the hotel:

Great Pool
Great Suite
Good location
Good menu selection for lunch and an informal dinner
Good selection of wine and cocktails
Reception Manager organised a cake for my Partners birthday which was very much appreciated
Good selection of Gluten Free products (when they eventually arrive)
Rooms and pool area were very clean
Lovely garden patio and bar area
Pool bar (not restuarant ) helpful and attentive

Bad points:

Restaurant staff were disinterested and had to be chased numerous times for service
No extra service/VIP area for Suites
No welcome drinks in suite or at reception
Sunbeds were allowed to be reserved almost all day when not in use
VIP areas at Cabane overpriced
Glasses were not replaced in room
