I was slightly worried about booking a hotel which is located next to a busy road but on arrival any concern quickly evaporated and easy access to the 'main drag' is very much a plus. Personal/family circumstances might dictate the need to stay at the hotel. If this is the case expect to pay 5 star prices for the food but don't complain about it or else book a 2 star or 3 star hotel in Benidorm!
I think the hotel has small areas to improve upon. Booking in was fine but we had to wait a short while for the cases to be taken to the room which was a slight shame especially having arrived hot and sweaty after a long journey. I do also agree with another review in that the pillows are not necessarily the best choice.
Otherwise the hotel experience was fabulous. The breakfast is varied and plentiful. Different types of egg dishes are cooked on the fly and anyone that complains about a short wait suffers from impatience. Other complaints about waiting for food and drinks are laudable. Here's a thought... don't go to eat lunch at the same time as everyone else or... peel yourself off the sun bed to walk the 30-50 metres it takes to order before resuming the sun lounging experience. Those guys and gals worked their bits and pieces off and I always found service to be excellent.
The swimming pool is one of the nicest I have seen and the tropical garden offering pockets of shade is really undersold in the marketing of the website. Granted it took a couple of minutes on occasion to attract the attention of the guys setting the lounger cushions and covers but again.....you are more than welcome to walk a short distance to collect them unless you have a phobia about folding the cover over the cushion and placing a towel down?!
We did not feel the need to visit La Cabane Beach Club but I did use the gym and I can say that this is by far the closest thing I have experienced to a gym as advertised. There was a good range of static weights machines, a small selection of free weights, spin bikes, two tread mills, a couple of other bikes and classes taking place. There is no fee for hotel guests.
If you are able to explore then a short walk down to the beach down nice residential roads followed by either a left or a right turn (depending on your mood) will take you to beach front restaurants. Our personal favourite was El Mangaleta. Note that the beach is fairly narrow where you first join it but I assure you that after a few hundred metres either way it opens out into glorious splendour which is a sight to behold as the sun is setting.
Being 4ks outside Marbella Centre means that either a car hire or taxis is the mode of choice with the latter costing circa 8.5-9 Euros there and a little over 10 on the way back. There is a veritable bounty of restaurants to choose from to suit all pockets.
All in all the experience was wonderful and I would be more than happy to do a return trip!!
