“A wonderful time”
Reviewed August 30, 2011

I was slightly worried about booking a hotel which is located next to a busy road but on arrival any concern quickly evaporated and easy access to the 'main drag' is very much a plus. Personal/family circumstances might dictate the need to stay at the hotel. If this is the case expect to pay 5 star prices for the food but don't complain about it or else book a 2 star or 3 star hotel in Benidorm!
I think the hotel has small areas to improve upon. Booking in was fine but we had to wait a short while for the cases to be taken to the room which was a slight shame especially having arrived hot and sweaty after a long journey. I do also agree with another review in that the pillows are not necessarily the best choice.
Otherwise the hotel experience was fabulous. The breakfast is varied and plentiful. Different types of egg dishes are cooked on the fly and anyone that complains about a short wait suffers from impatience. Other complaints about waiting for food and drinks are laudable. Here's a thought... don't go to eat lunch at the same time as everyone else or... peel yourself off the sun bed to walk the 30-50 metres it takes to order before resuming the sun lounging experience. Those guys and gals worked their bits and pieces off and I always found service to be excellent.
The swimming pool is one of the nicest I have seen and the tropical garden offering pockets of shade is really undersold in the marketing of the website. Granted it took a couple of minutes on occasion to attract the attention of the guys setting the lounger cushions and covers but again.....you are more than welcome to walk a short distance to collect them unless you have a phobia about folding the cover over the cushion and placing a towel down?!
We did not feel the need to visit La Cabane Beach Club but I did use the gym and I can say that this is by far the closest thing I have experienced to a gym as advertised. There was a good range of static weights machines, a small selection of free weights, spin bikes, two tread mills, a couple of other bikes and classes taking place. There is no fee for hotel guests.
If you are able to explore then a short walk down to the beach down nice residential roads followed by either a left or a right turn (depending on your mood) will take you to beach front restaurants. Our personal favourite was El Mangaleta. Note that the beach is fairly narrow where you first join it but I assure you that after a few hundred metres either way it opens out into glorious splendour which is a sight to behold as the sun is setting.
Being 4ks outside Marbella Centre means that either a car hire or taxis is the mode of choice with the latter costing circa 8.5-9 Euros there and a little over 10 on the way back. There is a veritable bounty of restaurants to choose from to suit all pockets.
All in all the experience was wonderful and I would be more than happy to do a return trip!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for the time spent writing your comments about your stay at Hotel Los Monteros and your impressions about our hotel, gardens, service and location.

It is really important for us to know that one of our guests enjoyed their time at our Hotel, even in peak season; as you know and unterstand with so many people in the hotel at peak time, it is normal to wait a few minutes to be served. I would really appreciate your patience.

It has been a pleasure to have you staying with us and we would like to welcome you at our Hotel in the near future.

Best Regards,
S.Ríos

We had a very pleasant stay here for a week and found most of the staff, the comfort of our room and the general ambience of the hotel great. A car is needed unless you are happy to stay around the hotel the entire time and the meals and drinks are expensive. The acquirement of a sun lounger around the pool is tricky as watching what everyone else did on our first day resulted in us being ticked off by the pool attendant for taking one that he had previously put out for another guest although they didn't arrive for another two hours but they did tip him for his trouble!

I wanted to go away for a long weekend for my 50th Birthday and once I found this hotel I knew it had to be there.

We usually travel long haul and the thought of being in the hotel at lunchtime was the clincher.

I booked 2 junior suites and they were very nice quiet and large rooms with large balconies got the sun in the morning. Liked the stained glass in the bathroom.

The pool is very deep (lots of swimming !!) and cool and the garden very nice with attentive staff.

We ate in the hotel restaurant every evening as my son was too weary to travel into town ill (a constant theme of my hotel reviews he has ME) and the quality was very good.

The beach club was super but you have to book as we hadn't we had to pay more for day beds in a secluded corner which were well worth the additional euros. Food at la cabane was superb.

Loved it 4 nights bliss no hassle good journey and back in time to visit Waitrose for dinner.
Perfect short break from the UK.

Understated elegance, great service all set in tranquil gardens. Our rooms were in the lower part of the complex towards the left as you enter via the foyer. Rooms were good value, clean and spacious. Ate at the poolside bar which was good. Portions are huge, you could easily share a sandwich and half the quite hefty bill. Breakfast was included in our deal and was well run, plenty of choice and set in the gardens around the pool.

Spent 2 nights at Los Monteros and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Service was friendly and attentive, they found my husband's lost sunglasses and they upgraded our rooms on arrival. The rooms were large and very clean with nice luxury details: a jacuzzi bath, complimentary wine, steam room, huge comfortable beds, robes, sun patio, English TV channels. Pool area was lovely with beautiful landscaped gardens and plentiful serviced sunbeds. The pool itself was very large, 30 degrees warm, peaceful and very well maintained. Food was pricey, but the portions were big, the sandwiches could easily feed 2. Breakfast buffet was included in our price and had a large variety of choices, both hot and cold. We did have some butter that didn't taste good, which rather ruined my husband's scrambled egg on toast, but generally I enjoyed the experience especially the location under the trees out by the pool.
The hotel is very self contained and you need to drive to find another source of food. I would have liked access to a small shop to buy snacks and drinks.
We really enjoyed our little slice of luxury!

After reviewing many positive reviews on TripAdvisor and on the advice of our travel agent - we booked a week at Los Monteros. In my opinion this is a nice 4 star hotel. There were too many problems with our stay and we witnessed way too many guests complaining about serious issues - plumbing, broken a/c, etc. The restaurant staff and housekeeping is superb. And the setting is lovely. I am sure in its heydey this place was the bomb. Just don't expect a 5 star.

A very nice hotel with a massive pool and lovely grounds to sun bathe in. For a 5 Star hotel I didn't think it was bad value especially if you compare it to the Marbella Club Hotel. The Suite was fantastic and lunch was a limited choice but plentiful. You have to get a taxi into the old town for an evening meal but it is worth it with a good choice of retaurants and shops. They also provide a Bus shuttle to the Cabanne which is their
very expensive beach club but couldn't see the point of paying to sun bathe there when
the hotel has such lovely grounds with shade from the trees if you have had enough sun
as it was extremely hot when we were there for a four day relaxing break before the school holidays
