We have just returned from our second stay at Forest Hills, near Estepona, in the space of a year and, on both occasions, a day trip with Hugo has been the highlight. Last June we spent an extremely memorable day with Hugo as our own personal tour guide - yes, the trip went ahead despite the two of us being the only bookings! That alone is amazing, but having such a knowledgable, interesting and affable guide was the icing on the cake. The tour then was exploring the mountainous natural sights, taking in the local flora and fauna, a lesson in firing a slingshot, spotting birds of prey, learning the history of the hanging white villages and culminating in a trip to an idyllic private freshwater pool with an hour or more to swim and take in the sun. How do you top that for a day out, we asked ourselves? The answer came last Wednesday when we had a second bite of the cherry, this time taking in the tour to stunning Ronda. Not only did we have Hugo to ourselves again for a second time, he also rearranged his itinerary for the week specially to accommodate us as we only had one day left of our break!!! It's customer service of the very highest order and that makes Monte Aventura a very special company indeed. Our only worry was that second time round the experience might not be so good but we had absolutely no need for concern. From the moment Hugo collected us at 9.45am the conversation flowed and Hugo was at his most charming and fascinating for the whole day, giving us countless insights into not only the history and sights of the area but also more of his boundless energy and enthusiasm for the nature of the area. With visits to several white - and one blue - village on the way, the 3-course lunch taken at a traditional local restaurant was delicious. And all this only the introduction to the main event, with more than two hours in Ronda itself, including a personal guided walking tour to many parts of this beautiful fortified city that most tourists never see. Coupled with Hugo's never-ending supply of fascinating facts, we were never short of interest for the whole day, returning to Forest Hills at nearly 7pm! The cost at €80 each may seem, on the face of it, steep but it was worth every single cent in our opinion. If you're in the area, look up Monte Aventura - without doubt the highlight of both our holidays. We've learned so much about Spain - its history, its wildlife, its geography - and its football! - and have passed it on to all our friends and family. Thanks Hugo for two amazing days out and here's to the next one!!!

Rosa, Mick, Linda and Barry + four more ladies had a day out with Hugo last Thursday. Fabulous. Beautiful sunshine, great company and a brilliant guide. If you are in the area you must see Ronda and the surrounding area. Steeped in history which was explained and presented with great enthusiasm by someone who really cares about his country and the people he takes care of on these great trips. Highly recommended.

A day trip out with Hugo, proved the perfect antidote to the spell of springtime inclement weather in Estepona. We were collected from our Seasons resort, in a canvas covered 4x4 and whisked away from the coast, into another land of lush mountain valleys, white/blue villages (yes blue, but won't spoil this one), the rain and mist merely adding to the atmosphere, although today limiting the fabulous potential views.
Stopping en route for drinks, and later for a lovely traditionally cooked lunch with wine, these broke up the day nicely.
Hugo is an excellent guide, his English allows him to fully explain whatever he has stopped to show everyone, and although we were often a little cold and a little damp, his historical awareness of all things local, plus his knowledge of local plants and nature, overcame the weather, he was a really good host, encouraging everyone to participate in his presentations, so that they became fun.
The final journey into Ronda was well worth the climb, however the heavens opened as we arrived, but this did little to dampen Hugo;s spirit, and we were treated to an additional view of Ronda from down in a gorge, and again Hugo's historical facts were well presented so that we were not only physically seeing the town, but had an explanation of it's varied important past and previous occupants over centuries.
A nice full day out, arriving back early evening, we would recommend the time spent.
Might be a bit bumpy and cramped for someone with limited mobility, but you would have to make your own choice here.

Excellent and fun day out with Antonio and Hugo in landrovers. Enjoyable not just for the flora and fauna, but for the insight into the way of life in the mountain villages, history and architecture. This time our trip included the town of Ronda, seen from the gorge below and later up in the town itself. Good local stops for coffee, winetasting and lunch. This is our second trip with Monte Aventura (previously did the "other" route in 2012), but just as enjoyable. We particularly like the informality of stopping when a member of the party sees something interesting, like wild goats or vultures. Ask Antonio to show you the trick with the corks and forks balanced on a cocktail stick on the rim of a wineglass, at lunchtime!

Fabulous day out in the sierra de las Nieves with our guides Hugo and Antonio. The trip was excellent with great insight into the nature park, its wild orchids, eagles and history. Great fun in the jeeps with Hugo inciting us all to stand up and woop as we went off road through the mountains. Lovely lunch in Istan - beautiful village with great characters! Hugo made sure everyone had a good time and was involved all day long - would thoroughly recommend this tour company.
