“Awful service, but nice food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

I had tapas here with a friend who lives nearby. The food was quite nice but over-priced for the size. The waiter was absolutely obnoxious (an older guy). Wouldn't go back.

“nice food, shame about the service...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

This was our ladt night in Marbella so we wanted to go somewhere Really nice. The Lonely Planet guide had recommended The Santiago restaurant for their paella & as it wss just a couple of minutes walk away we thought we would give it a go.

It is a full on fish restaurant which wasn't what we were expecting but no problem, we could choose something. We were rushed through our choices & very quickly some appetisers arrived, very quickly by our starters, & then our main courses.

We're not used to eating 3 courses in 45 mins & being hurried so much. Constantly refilling our glasses & the staff were transported from a 70s sitcom. Old men/waiters leaning over you, dropping the bread, giving you the wrong cutlery. We weren't sure whether it was end of season tiredness or complacency in that they had had good reviews.

The food was good, although I did send my steak back for being under done but everything else was good, but for the price I expected better.

“Authentic sea food made as it should be”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

Traveling in costa del sol it was a must stop at this resturant.
We did choose it with high aspictation's as it should be the 1'st and best sea food resturant in costa del sol.
At first impression It looks fancy comparing to other resturants.
We did get there in good hour (19.00) befor the rush begins as it was almost empty, so we did get fast , professional and attentive service.
About the food: as aspected it was worth it ! i did order a grilled dorada fish and it was made professionaly and so tasty that i did order it twice!
My wife and the kids did order grilled shrimps and they were very happy as it was fantastic fresh and one of the best!
After a such meal at the end i was hoping for a lemon sorbetto drink and as aspected they did have it, great finish for such a great meal.
If you are a lover of authentic mediterrenian seafood wel this resturant is it in costa del sol.
The only minus is the overprice!!!!!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

Others had recommended it. It is not on beach but on main stretch with a lot of people, chaotic. Felt very touristy. Overpriced for quality of food. Swordfish was dry. Dorada fish was tasty. Appetizers were extremely disappointing, cold melon soup and asparagus. Waiters were snooty. Was our least enjoyable meal for the past 7 days.

“Over priced poor service terrible food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

We decided to eat at Santiago because the menu looked appealing, we had not booked so were shown a table inside, fair enough, and we felt as though we had been abandoned , we asked for the child's menu and who I presume was the head waiter, he was rattled off 3 dishes very quick and was off, not interested he did not even have the common curtesy to tell us how much they were. Me and my wife ordered suckling pig and 2 children's meals chicken and chips and spaghetti bolognaise, these were 30 euros. Our mains came after a very long wait it is very hard to explain how it was presented but it was awfull then a plate of chips put in the middle to share. The taste was disgusting something seemed very wrong, it seemed like the pig had been boiled for about 10 hours then at the last minute deep fried, next to no meet on the what I presume was a leg and looked awfull. A bad experience
Wine average and not what we asked for, I had to ask for the bill 4 times, had it not arrived when it did we would of walked out.
