Description: This emblematic wine cellar built in an old house from the 18th century is a meeting place for people of all ages. It has welcomed many generations of artists, flamenco dancers or politicians. It is named after formerly popular city figures called 'los pimpis', young people who had helped ship crews or passengers and had become the first city guides. It is furnished in the style of Malaga, and offers local wines and delicious gastronomy which is very popular in the city. The soul of the restaurant is the lounge with the vintage wine barrels, signed by famous people, such as the family Picasso, the painter Barcelo, the bullfighter Cordobes, The Duchess of Alba, Carmen Thyssen and Antonio Banderas, who show the historical value of this place. This establisment is in the old town of Malaga, next to the Museum Picasso, La Alcazaba (the Citadel of Malaga) and the Roman Theatre.

“Great bodega”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Wonderful atmosphere set off by good service and really nice food. Others have commented that it is touristy, but as foreigners we were in an overwhelming minority - most of the diners were Spanish. We ate inside before finding the terrace on the way out, but wouldn't have eaten outside even if we had known.

An interesting Bodega with tapas and wine which caters mainly to the tourists, but interesting interiors and outside terrace.

“Amazing atmosphere, a must.”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

El Pimpi is the oldest bodega in Malaga and has character and atmosphere in spades.
There are plenty of seats outside, but it is well worth getting out of the sun for a while and eating or drinking inside this cool, amazing building.
You can walk through and come out near the Picasso Museum.
Had some great calamari and a mixed salad. Good value and well worth seeking out. Staff very helpful and menus available in lots of languages. Met ex-pat friends there and liked it so much, we went back on our own on our last day before going to the airport. 90+ yr old 8' high flamenco and bull fighting posters on the walls, a bar area, 3 Iberian hams on stands and another part with plants growing inside, all over the walls. Brilliant.

“I love this bar”

The food is tasty and the bar is fun. Would definitely recommend it for a fun place to drink and easy yummy tapas. The tapas are not elaborate but they are high quality.
