“Such a wonderful staff.”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

This is a beautiful, modern hotel with a wonderful full breakfast. We will always remember, and be thankful to, Mr. Nacho, at the front desk, who went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us in a frightening situation. We were part of a large tour group seeing the city, when I broke my shoulder in a fall from the tour bus. Our group had to continue on to Madrid while I spent the rest of the day in the hospital. My husband and I checked in to the hotel upon hospital release. My husband explained the situation to Mr. Nacho. We had to get to Madrid the following day, in order to catch up with our tour group and return home with them. Mr. Nacho showed my husband how to take the high speed train to Madrid. Then he was kind enough to take my husband through a short cut to the train station and help him buy a ticket for the early train next morning. Mr. Nacho explained that the ticket had to be purchased the day before, at least. What a thoughtful man to walk us through this process! We made it to Madrid on the beautiful and restful high speed train and joined our group for the last day of a 17 day vacation. If all the employees are as gracious as Mr. Nacho, this is a wonderful hotel.

We stayed at this hotel as a stop over before our flight back home the next morning, we arrived early evening at the train station and the door for the hotel is in the corner next to the main train stations platforms. We had two rooms, stayed on 3rd floor and experienced no noise what so ever. Rooms were very clean and basic. We went for an evening meal within the shopping centre attached to train station and in the morning went to mcdonalds for breakfast, this is also within the complex so you do not have to go outside at all.
We were all quite tired so did not venture out of the complex, but it was Holy week and the receptionist made us aware of Easter events happening that week should we wish to go and see them.
I got my daughter and sister to go down the slide as we were leaving, a novelty photo opportunity!
Ohh and I got the rooms quite cheap on lastminute.com.

Location was excellent for access to the airport; the same train service took us to Benalmadena. The bus station is right behind the hotel and we caught a bus to Marbella which took 45 minutes.
the breakfast was delicious, with variations every day.

The downside was that the hotel restaurant wasn't open meaning a long walk into town to dine every night. There are dozens of places to eat in the station itself, if you like fast food, and lots of shopping options. The port about half an hour's walk, is a lively area to dine or have a drink outside overlooking the marina and bay, with a wide choice of cuisine. We had Greek, pizza, and tapas.

The beach area is about 40 minutes walk away.

I loved the black out blinds and the kingsize bed and the fact that the hotel was quiet (apart from a neighbour one night on the phone at 1am).

If you don't mind walking it's perfect -The convenience to the buses and trains outweighs that disadvantage

This is our second trip to barcelo, it's ideally situated 3 stops on the train from the airport €1.75 each way or €20 by taxi.
We arrived late and were efficiently checked in , although no mention of facilities ie breakfast or even the restaurant , I think more internal promotion is required , last time we visited we were offered breakfast upgrade and the breakfast was good.
The room was very clean and comfortable , amazing shower , comfortable bed , my only suggestion would be better pillows and a few more hangers for the wardrobe.
All of the staff were very friendly , but special mention goes to the team at the bar especially Gema who was always smiling and worked very hard , she gave us some great tips for our break . Luis and Javier were brilliant too, loved the update on world sport! Thanks guys!
The bar area is very pleasant with both indoor and out door seating , great system now in place for ordering and of course there is THAT SLIDE a must try.
Great value hotel serving tourists and business people alike. It's a great location and really only takes approx 25 mins to take a walk to the port and lots of restaurants , 10 mins and you can be in the centre , some great little cafés around , a couple of shopping centres nearby , el corte ingles is only a 10 min walk.
Enjoy

Room Tip: One looking over the back may be quieter

This is the place to be if you have a flight out of Malaga and don't want to be at the airport. The train is right there inside the large mall and cost us 1 euro 75 each, so cheap and you are at the airport in 9 mins. We ate breakfast at the airport. We walked into beautiful old town Malaga. We were surprised how lovely old town is. Dropping off our car was right there too ( europcar), the parking garage underneath the station.

Stayed in the Barcelo Malaga for 5 nights and could not fault this hotel for it's great location, you can enter the hotel directly from the shopping complex where the train stations are for both the local and national trains, the walk to the main town and the beach is about 20-30 mins.
There are many bars and places to eat local to the hotel so you don't have to go far at night.
The hotel staff were very firendly and the hotel ticks all the boxes for cleanliness and comfort, the rooms were left spotless by the cleaners every day, the reception staff were also very helpfull.
Over all this is a great place to stay if you visit Malaga.

We stayed here for four nights at the end of April. Lets get the disadvantages out of the way - it's approximately a 20 minute walk to the heart of Malaga. That's the downside taken care of. The hotel is located within the complex that is Maria Zambrano railway station and shopping centre. It is an eight minute train ride from the airport. First impressions were excellent, an efficient welcoming reception that had us checked in within a few minutes. English is widely (and well) spoken. Our standard room was huge and came with air con and a decent sized en-suite bathroom with a large shower (not the usual coffin size). The room was quiet, clean and had a king size bed. The bar is open noon until 1 am and serves burgers, pasta, pizza in addition to the usual drinks. Beer is served with complimentary crisps, olives or nuts; coffee comes with biscuits. We also ate twice in the restaurant - excellent food at a reasonable price. Breakfast buffet is superb, a huge range of cereal, cheese, bread, fruit, cooked meat, veg, eggs, etc. A chef is on hand to prepare dishes not available on the buffet. The Nespresso machines have a choice of at least 6 coffees. Our stay was excellent, the service was faultless throughout and we even used the slide! If on a budget, this hotel is the one to choose.

Room Tip: The restaurant is open 13.30 to 16.30 and from 20.30 at night.
