Great hotel, really lovely staff, well located, and the decor is amazing - a slide, padded walls and all kinds of funky things. Definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in or passing through Malaga

It appears we arrived on a fully booked evening at the Barcelo Malaga and as a result managed to get an upgrade to a suite on the eighth floor - so we had a sitting room, bedroom, double shower and a spa bath. What a shame we were here for just one night!

The hotel is located in part of the main station in Malaga - although initially we had trouble locating the entrance (so look for the small blue signs in the station concourse) but once there the staff were friendly and we enjoyed a ride down the slide once we had dropped our bags in the room.

Being a fifteen or so minute walk to the old town may be a disadvantage for some but too be honest a walk is good for you especially after a nice late meal accompanied by a bottle of wine and the walk felt very safe indeed!

If I was here again I would stop at the Barcelo but without an upgrade I might be slightly let down - I am sure the standard rooms are good, but you can't beat a suite!

We stayed here for 1 night on our way to Seville. Access is direct from the train station which is a bonus not having to drag your bags across the city. Our room was very well equipped, clean, spacious and quiet. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of both hot and cold foods and about 20 choices of coffee!
It wouldn't be a hotel that I would stay in if I was spending a long period in Malaga as it's not in the hub of everything, but excellent choice for transit visitors.
The reception staff were especially helpful with maps etc.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It's accessible by train from Malaga airport, just 3 stops away. Maria Zambrano station is within the same building as the hotel. It is the transportation interchange in Malaga, where one can find the Renfe station for both the AVE and the Cercanias trains. Also there is a bus station nearby which connects you to surrounding towns like Nerja and Veles-Malaga. There is also a large taxi stand at the entrance. I found the staff at reception to be friendly and can speak good English. One of the receptionists, named Alvarro was always happy to help us with anything we asked.

The only downside to the room we stayed in was the lack of BBC channel, reception was bad. When we arrived back from our sightseeing tour, it would had been nice to catch up with some of the latest news. It is a good hotel to stay when in Malaga centre as it is very close to everything.

The room was clean - just the last day we were staying at (6th floor, room 602) door to the bathroom could not be shut (faulty). Also there were motion sensor lights in the room, it disrupted our sleep a few times. Think we switched off lights as usual in a normal way, somehow it picked up movements when we were stationery in our sleep- strange. Just would like to point out also that there can be occasions when the shutting of doors/slamming were heard late at nights by neighbours returning from outside. Overall it was a pleasant stay as we felt safe, travelling as 2 women.

Just returned from a week staying at this hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. On the day we arrived, the young man on reception gave us a map and pointed out the best restaurants nearby. He also circled some places to visit. The breakfast buffet was good and I had a wonderful steak in the restaurant. This hotel is next to the railway station so it is good for getting about easily.
