Allocated a room on the 6th floor at the front of the hotel but there was no outside noise.

Modern funky room, clean, spacious & with a comfortable bed. In-room safe & a mini bar. Plenty of storage/hanging space.
Loved the automatic window shutter blind. Air-con a bit cold, had to use the duvet!!

Toiletries supplied in the bathroom ie shampoo, shower gel, conditioner etc.

Decent Buffet breakfast with fruit juice, cereal, egg station, bacon, different breads, coffee machine, pastries etc.

20 min walk to the historical centre of Malaga & the Port.

Couple of big shopping centres, restaurants & bars in the nearby vicinity.

€5 taxi fare from the hotel to Calle Guillen Sotelo where you can take the elevator up to La Alcazaba.

We took the train from the airport (single fare was €1.70, I think?) & exited at Maria Zambrano station (3rd stop) & followed the signs in the shopping centre around to the hotel (glass entrance door beside car rental stores).

Recommended.

We stayed for one night on our way to Granada, and this hotel was excellent for an overnight stay. It was very easy to get to from Malaga airport -just take the train from the airport to Maria Zambrano station - takes about 15 mins - and the hotel entrance is in the same shopping complex as the train station - you don't even have to go outside! It was also excellently placed for getting the bus to Granada the following morning - the bus station is just at the back of the same shopping centre. The hotel itself was lovely and very good value - modern decor, beautiful bathroom, we found the bed very comfortable and had no problems with noise. Can't vouch for the breakfast as we had ours in a local cafe (lots to choose from). Don't know how handy it would be for an extended stay in Malaga but perfect for an overnight stop - excellent value overall.

The hotel is located by the main Railway Station and there is also a shopping mall with various shops/fast food within the train station terminal - not big but ok. The hotel was spotless, rooms great, beds extremely comfortable. We didn't do breakfast, but just had coffee and got complimentary mini pastries which were lovely and prices reasonably average for coffee anywhere. Staff were helpful, we heard nothing once we went to bed...We didn't walk into Old Town as taxi was only about 6 euro. The slide is used more than you think and by more adults than you would think! Great fun...Would definitely stay there again....

We chose to stay at this hotel because our usual hotel was fully booked for the first 2 nights of our 9 night trip to Malaga, and the reviews on Tripadvisor made this an obvious choice. The hotel was first class and as we planned to visit Marbella on our second day, its proximity to both the bus and railway station was ultra convenient. This is a designer style hotel, with excellent rooms. The bed was huge, the wet room shower and Jacuzzi bath superb. The toilet and bidet are separate. Breakfast selection was above average, lovely warm tortilla an added treat to the normal breakfast menu. It really is a lovely place to stay, with only a couple of issues to highlight. Check-in/out was slow, not mind numbing slow, but when you want to be somewhere else it can be a bit of a nuisance. And there is no provision for sitting in the lovely Spanish sunshine. If you want a hotel as a base for touring and exploring Andalucia, Barcelo Malaga would be an excellent choice and a welcoming place to return to after a day under the hot Spanish sun.

Excellent hotel - we stayed two nights and enjoyed a great experience. Great room, with superb beds - very quiet. Convenient location - trains 2 mins walk + quick cheap connection to the airport and shopping/dining all nearby - but still only 15 mins walk to the old town. The staff were all very agreeable too. The breakfast is well worth having.

Stayed here after flying in to Malaga and before heading off into the middle of Spain. Liked it so much, we returned on the way back as well.

Not the most obviously convenient location, as it’s a 4-5 minute drive/taxi ride from the nightlife in the centre and 20 mins from the airport, and a 10-15 minute stroll to the port restaurants etc. BUT…. It’s right next to the station, and bus station. We had a high room (6th and 7th floors) so didn’t hear anything at all. No traffic, no trains, nothing. Out of bed and onto the high speed train in the morning. Beats flying hands down.

Rooms (and beds) a decent size, very clean and comfortable. Staff endlessly helpful and cheerful. Couldn’t fault it – and I’m a grumpy so-and-so!

Room Tip: I'd guess that higher rooms are best for street noise

We booked our 3 night stay after reading reviews here. The location could not be better for getting to and from the airport by train and I guess that if you were based in Malaga to explore the region using public transport, this hotel is absolutely ideal. We spent all of our trip in the city, however, and did find that walking in and out of the centre got to be a bit of a drag. But that was the only downside. The rooms are beautifully clean and modern, our bed was super king sized, and we couldn't hear any noise from the corridor or other rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English.
