Atarazanas Malaga Boutique Hotel

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during March. Booked a double room with balcony view but was given a smaller single room with a double bed, was charged the double rate. Room was definetly not a double as later checked the hotel website to compare the rooms. No obvious reason for this as hotel did not appear to be full. Room was very draughty and cold due to old style windows. Had to put heating on full to keep room warm at night. Very noisy due to traffic and was woken at 4am due to rubbish collections. Breakfast is awful, poor choice and quality also possibly the worst coffee I ever tasted. Breakfast area was freezing cold. Very cold and souless place definetly not a boutique hotel. Nothing really outstanding to say about this hotel apart from a good (though noisy) location near to toursity places and shopping.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere there are some fantastic hotels in Malaga!

The staff is perfectly helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and the size of the room for one person was ideal. The only thing is that since in the center ( less than 5 min walking), its not the quietest place in the world you can imagine. I would stay here again. Thanks for everything!

Room Tip: Rooms looking at the front side can be nosier. I didnt bring any comb but they give me a plastic one...

If you are looking for a view this is not your hotel, but it is very affordable with a supermarket next door and a superb indoor market diagonally across the road. So you can gourmandise and prepare your own meals. The breakfast is adequate and reasonably priced for Spanish standards but check the teperatures of the cooked items. Our room was quiet with all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were helpful and kept our luggage willingly the extra hours. A huge plus must be that the hotel is within a short walk of the underground- one stop to the railway station and four stops to the airport and a whole string of coastal resorts. The central location also means less tired legs after museums or window shopping. The only criticism is that there was a shortage of umbrellas in the foyer!

Room Tip: Early arrivals can often negotiate a change of room if they want to.

Hotel is in the city centre area, on a busy side road near the market, on the edge of the extensive traffic-free shopping zone. Very convenient for a walk round town. Restaurant was closed, but wide choice nearby. Breakfasts were fine - choice of hot and cold. We had a room at the front - very noisy until late at night - then the market started early morning. Car parking a couple of minutes walk away - E23 a day. Would go again - but insist on a room at the back (or use earplugs !) Overall good value for money (even taking parking cost into account)

Room Tip: Rooms at the front very noisy

We stayed for two nights over the New Year period, the room was fairly small and dark, with our view looking out onto a back street / bin area, this was disappointing as upon booking we had been advised we would get a front-facing room, we asked if we could change the room but advised that the hotel was fully booked. The room was very clean though and the bed was great. We made use of the free WIFI and we were given Malaga wine and use of bathrobes/slippers as part of our stay, which was nice. The reception staff were friendly and accommodating during the stay.

The location is near the centre - ish. However, having stayed in better located hotels within Malaga previously we found the location was not as good as previous reviews have suggested. As typical of Malaga, you do have to pay for parking costing on average 22€ per day, we parked in one of the underground car parks which was a 5 or so minute walk from the hotel, we received a small discount from the parking from the hotel booking.

Malaga itself is a great and normally buzzing city, however unfortunately we did not enjoy spending NYE in Malaga as due to local holiday custom - the bars and city centre close down early (5pm) on New Years eve, next to nothing open at all in the run up to midnight?!. We went to the main square and saw the New Year in with a hundred or so others, but there was no atmosphere. Having said that, the city lights and decor hanging from the buildings were beautiful.

We will definitely return to Malaga for a weekend break on a 'normal weekend' in the future, as it's a brilliant city, but will not be back for New Year again. In terms of the Atarazanas it is unlikely we would return, nice enough hotel but overall just a bit let down by value (price for the size/style of room, amenities and location did not live up to expectations)

The Atarazanas Boutique Hotel is a great hotel located near the old centre and the port of Malaga. The hotel is also very easy to reach by car and has a parking nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Opposite the hotel is a cosy indoor foodmarket.

No restaurant, no concierge, no portering, no parking, no residents lounge, no space! This is a small (cramped?) simple but amiable place, situated quite well for the old town. It has to 'make-do' in so many areas due to lack of space and facilities. Calling it 'boutique doesnt forgive it, and suggest some extra characters and pleasantries - which it doesnt have. If you want a rather bare, basic but adequate no-frills place to sleep and have breakfast (decent enough but also very plain) then this is OK.

Room Tip: Internal rooms may be overlooked by a corridor, external room suffer street noise.
