“Amazing place in Malaga center”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

Great choice of wine, best I've experimented in Malaga, in a gret atmosphere / decoration restaurant.
Living in Malaga, I can recommend without hesitation: service is perfect & professional, quality / typical food and as previously stated: what a wine experience! If you want to have a real insight of Spanish / Andalusia wine: this is THE place to go!

“Loved this Place !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

We visited this venue on our WeLoveMalaga tapas tour with Victor last Friday.
I guess you'd describe it as a modern wine cellar which also serves tapas. Quite unusual and different from the other bars and restaurant's we'd visited. It really suited our taste.
The tapas was more modern, and the wine was delicious. We were well looked after by our host Julian.
We liked it so much, we returned the following lunchtime and talked to Julian about shipping some wine home. We've tried to ship wine in many different countries, and sometimes it proves very difficult to achieve. Not so at Los Patios de Beatas ! A great tasting, an easy transaction, and a very reasonable price. Plus we really enjoyed the food.
Surprised this place hasn't got a higher rating on TA, but well worth a visit if you like your wine.

“Off the beaten track”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

We found Los Patios de Beatas quite by accident. Having gone into Malaga to try out one of the well-documented tapas places we found that the centre of the city had been taken over by thousands of young people as part of some festival. And most of them, like many of their age-group - couldn't hold their beer.
We retreated back towards the railway station, giving up all hope of a restaurant (they all seemed to have wisely closed for the evening), we stumbled on Los Patios down a side-street. We were the only ones in there to begin with but a few other 'wrinklies' came in later.
The restaurant is beautifully fitted out; lots of dark wood and a wonderful stained glass ceiling two floors up. You think you are entering a wine shop as there are hundreds of bottles on display, but we glimpsed the table-cloths in the background and thankfully took one.
The staff were very helpful, although the menu was only available in Spanish, but we coped with the assistance of the excellent waitress. We drank a bottle of Malaga rosado called Avanthia which was crisp if a little sweet. Apparently all of the wines in the shop could be bought by the glass.
We had the croquettes Chipiron which was available in a half-portion, between us. Crispy and with a potato-seafood filling as well as the tomato Aliñao which was sliced tomatoes with tuna in olive oil. Both very good.
Mains were cod, Taco de Bacalao Sals which was moist and excellent and Pescado Frito Dia, or effectively four different fried fishes Malaga-style. All very good, if needing a little more in the way of vegetables - Spanish restaurants are not big on veggies.
With desserts and coffees 80 euros which was very reasonable for something of good quality.

“worth the search: bib gourmand value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

I was glad that I had a city map, because this restaurant is located in a small street just outside the tourist area. When we arrived close to 10pm only one table was occupied, and my better half suggested not to enter, but some of the raving reviews on tripadvisor made me stand my ground. We were seated in the restaurant (besides a wine shop it is a tapas bar too) on a beautiful designed table with mosaic top made of stones and glass. The waitress spoke English and gave us the menu. We choose the 5 course menu of the day with accompanying wines, without bothering to studying other options. For 50 euros each, including water and coffee, we were set. First we had a cold regional soup with sherry, then cold octopus slices with chardonnay. The glasses were refilled with the same wine for the third course, perfectly cooked tuna. After this our stomachs were satisfied, but more was to follow. Pork with tempranillo wine, that had to open up as the waitress said, but the tannins were still very present. As dessert we had kind of tiramisu with a red garnatxa. At times we felt a bit rushed, although we left after midnight. In the meantime two other tables were occupied; the owner was frequenting these guests with information, but we haven't exchanged a single word. But our waitress was knowledgeable too, so that didn't really matter, although it contrasts with other reviews. All dishes were beautifully presented, and this restaurant deserves a bright future.
