Pretty little square where Picasso was born; his statue is on a seat in the far corner where you can take a picture next to him if you like. During Picasso's birthday week (October 25th) there is a pretty market held here with an old style theme. Not sure if this is every year, but some festivities celebrate the old master's birthday. The Picasso birthplace museum is only 2 euros to go in and worth a short visit with the free audio guide. It is a matter of opinion, but we preferred the birthplace museum as it told more about Picasso himself than the actual Picasso museum which moslty just held his art on themes rather than about him - and is a lot more expensive.

The distances in central Malaga are not very far and it is an easy few minutes stroll from the entrance to the Alcazaba to this little Square.

This is a great spot for evening drinks as it was very busy and buzzing with quite a lot of student groups, however, we didn't find it "too young" as there is a great mix of people around. It is also close to the birthplace of Picasso which is another great reason to visit.

It's a very nice spot to chill. There is a statue of Picasso and it's right at the house where he was born. The cafes and restaurants also seemed very nice and cosy.

Plaza de la Merced is famous for its Picasso connections, however it's just a great square to sample the local culture. With a choice of many bars and cafes, relaxing with a drink, watching the hustle and bustle of activity in the warm sunshine is a really pleasant way of passing an hour or so.

It's the square in front of the house Picasso was born. I had read that it had a bad reputation for pickpockets, and indeed you're being "scanned" in a weird way while walking through it.
