Just a must-not-miss, simple as that! Not a vast amount of info, but such atmosphere, and views like you wouldn't believe of beautiful Malaga

It's a long way up, especially on a hot day. Bring water and enjoy the magnificent view from the top.

Great castle, if you start from the town its a very good hike to the top of the hill and the entrance. There is a bus that drops you off right by the front gate but you would miss the great scenery.

This is a Moorish Fort such as you imagine in Beau Geste. It is a long steep trek uphill to get to it. You have great views of the city and bay. There is a drinks bar just outside it. If you don't want the walk you can take a taxi almost to the door or use the red tourist bus. Do NOT attempt this walk on high heeled shoes. You may get up but going down is another thing!

See my review of the Alcazaba (dated 4th June 2013) for more information about the Gibralfaro, as these two fortresses are literally linked to one another as part of the same monument. Both places are wheelchair friendly in many areas.

A note: besides the Tourist hop-on, hop-off Bus with a service each 20 - 30 minutes around the sights of Málaga, there is also a local bus (no. 35) running between the port and the Gibralfaro.
The Tourist Bus takes a hour and a half approximately to circulate all the stops around Málaga

Remember that, as with many museums, these places are closed on Mondays.
