Just a 45 minute drive inland from the busy coast . A pleasant road leads up into the countryside above the Lake at La Vinuela. The last bit of the road into the area known as Los Romanes is a bit steep and wiggly and I would not recommend it at night, but during the day when the sun is out and now with the almond trees in blossom is a pleasure. The Venta is typically Spanish but thats where it ends. The menu of the day is very good value for money at 9e, but go onto the a la carte menu and some delights await you . Interesting salads with nuts and seeds grilled chicken and lovely fresh leaves, scrambled eggs with plump prawns and asparagus, scallops grilled with a lovely sauce, to name but a few of the starters. Main courses of BBQ Iberian meat or 1kg T bones steaks to share on a hot stone, Lamb done in an almond sauce and a variety of fish. There are also some lovely veggie options including wild mushroom casserole which in itself is unusual in southern Spain..Even the ever present flan is more interesting being flavoured with strong coffee, but there are also other sweets to try or a selction of five to share. The.House wine is very drinkable at 8.50e a bottle. Great value for money and lovely views into the bargain
