“Acquired taste!”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Most of the exhibits were in the Spanish Romantic style, which is rather 'chocolate box' for my taste. Was hoping for Velasquez, Goya, El Greco, etc. but no such luck. Should have done my homework!

“Very nice art and new building!”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

The museum is situated in the middle of the city and the building is very new so it is very fresh and clean. The art is all owned by a rich famous woman that also have a (more big) museum in Madrid and the orientation is Spanish painters mostly from Andalucia.

I enjoy a lot both the temporary exhibition and the regular, it is nice paintings and different stiles, if you like art I recommend this in front of the Picasso that don't have so much painting and nor so nice that Thyssen have.

“A really fantastic art museum. Highly recommended”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

A really fantastic gallery which is focused on Andalusian art. And what a collection there is to choose from. I spent a lovely 4 hours wandering around discovering new heroes of artists. Like Julio Romero de Torres. Just a small word about the excellent staff. From entrance, to cloakroom, to cafeteria, to shop, to audioguide, to gallery and security staff. All were really excellent and look as though they really enjoy their job because you are treated well. Highly recommended. And if you are ever in Madrid look out for the equally highly recommended sister museum.

“A cool and charming delight”
Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

This small but well presented collection in the Old Town of Malaga is a lovely way to spend an hour or two on a hot afternoon. The collection of Spanish art is laid out well, with a mix of paintings that tell a story (we loved the interrupted feast) alongside evocative landscapes, engaging portraits (I'd love to have shared a bottle of wine with the imperious Julia, she and I could have been great pals) and some interesting painting showing the development of how Spain saw itself.
The lovely museum shop stocks the usual cards and posters as well as some really lovely books and idiosyncratic paper sculptures

“A cool place on a hot day”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

A great collection for art lovers. I enjoyed the sense of humor in some of the Spanish art but not all of the family was crazy about this museum. If you have some art culture you will certainly enjoy it.
