“An oasis in the hills of Málaga”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

There is something magical about this place. I think it's a combination of the genuinely friendly and enthusiastic staff, the well kept but not overly "fussy" gardens, the cool and shade available even on the hottest days and its peaceful atmosphere.

While it is very well set up for tourists, you will see a fair few there, it doesn't get crowded. Nor does it take advantage and try to get as much money from them as possible. The entrance prices are very reasonable. The café serves nothing but freshly home made food, "nothing from cans or jars" said the proprietor, and all at prices you would pay in an average café or restaurant, for above average food.

Likewise, the gift shop is ridiculously cheap! It has a strange assortment of items connected to the park, lots of plants and seeds, then chuck in some nick-knacks, a collection of 70s and 80s LPs and a few more eclectic pieces. You can buy the kids mementos and really not worry about how much you are spending, many items being 1 or 2 euros.

Every member of staff I have met there is filled with an enthusiasm for the place. I get the impression that they all love the garden and want you to love it too. You can't help but be drawn in by their warmth and extensive knowledge that they are all too happy to share.

As for the gardens, they have a fantastic range of plants and trees from all over the world. It takes a bit to get your head around the best route to take and I'm sure you'll discover something new with every visit. I also like the fact that some parts are left to grow a little more wild, to enjoy the beauty in nature without manicures. There are guided tours in various languages, but you can navigate by map and by bluetooth messages on your mobile.

During the summer, they run workshops for kids where they learn loads about plants and wildlife and also get themselves dirty working in the mini farm. Breakfast is provided and lunch is available too. Again, at very competitive prices.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it needs a sixth star.

“Excellent place to see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Spent the morning looking around the gardens. Amazing plants and trees from all over the world. Then had an excellent lunch at the cafe. Food was freshly done and all home made . The aubergine quiche was perfect just out of the oven . Liked it so much asked for the recipe!!!
Will be going back again later in the year to see more of the wonderful plants.

“Nice interlude”

Nice place to wander around on a cloudy day - a trip out of town - you can use the same ticket as for the city tour.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

This botanical garden is a bit of a journey, but fortunately there is a city bus that drops you off fairly close to it, and from the bus stop you will have about a 15 minute walk to the garden. We paid a little more for an English-speaking guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed the place. The plant life is incredible, including different types of plants (such as rain forest, desert, and other plants from different terrain). The place is well-maintained, and it is a nice little getaway from city life for awhile.

“A cool spot”

The planting is very lush and gives a really cool and relaxing feel. Lots of seating and a love of the planting is labeled which is always a help.
