“Best value right in the historic center of Malaga”
Reviewed November 17, 2011

Very clean rooms with sink and very clean common or private bathroom. Most of them have a (sunny) private balcony. Very well located: close to the harbour, the bus stops on Alameda Principal (also for the bus to and from the airport), the market, shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and the main attractions of beautiful Malaga. Caroline, the friendly owner, will point them out to you on the free map you will get as soon as you arrive. She will also tell you where you can have breakfast (less than 5 EUR), lunch, dinner or just tapas; where you can taste the famous Malaga wines; how you can get to Pedregalejo alongside the beach (5 km) to have grilled sardines there or other fresh fish or seafood. In fact, you can ask her anything you need to know. There is no curfew (you have your own keys): fortunately, because in the city center party goes on until the early hours... even during the week. Book in advance; no need to pay a deposit nor give your credit card number. Just look up the hostal's website on the internet and send Caroline an e-mail.

I have stayed at Hostal La Palma several times in recent years in various rooms in the Hostal and I have never been disappointed.
The Hostal is in a great location for shops, sights and beach.
The rooms are always scrupulously clean, with good mattresses and most with balconies.
The owner, Caroline could not be more helpful and accommodating.

Most notably this hotel has a very friendly owner who helps out with all sorts of practicalities, that made me feel very welcome. I had a room with ensuite bathroom that was super clean. The hotel is centrally located, close to the major shopping street and just a 15min walk to the beach. So it's perfect for city trips as well as beach vacations.

I stayed here for two nights with two connecting rooms, one with ensuite, the other with a sink in the room. Lovely place to stay. The location could not be beaten. Right next to the best street in town. The woman who owns the place was really nice and helpful. I'm learning Spanish and she spoke slowly and clearly to me, and communicated fine in English as well. The beds were comfy and there was a TV in the room with cable, and the shower was good although you had to slip the hand-held shower head in between a DIY string jobby so you didnt have to hold it (which was no big deal at all).
There was a little lift so the second floor wasn't an issue. Nice balcony overlooking the street as well. Oh and she made our beds each day! Definitely recommended!!

I went to the Hostal La Palma for a solo trip, 7 nights. This is a great place for backpackers or low-budget travellers, even with children or in couple! A safe and clean place, excellent location to enjoy the city (tourism attractions and beaches), not expensive and really nice, helpful multilangual staff! I enjoy my stay very much, and I would definitly recommend this quiet and humble hotel for people looking for a good quality-price range. You'll be in the middle of everything you need, from buses to restaurants and grocerie stores! As a solo-woman-traveller, I was to the right place! Thanks a lot :)

The place did need a bit of a clean in my opinion. We only stayed a night before we flew back home so didnt mind too much. Good location, helpful owner (kept our luggage safe and met us to when we needed to collect it to go to the airport).

Everything is great about this place :
- the location (30 sec to main street, 1 min from buses and taxis station, 2 min to the supermarket and 10 min to the beach -- although it's a nice and quiet street)
- the rooms that are spacious and super clean
- very good value for the price
- and the owner is so nice and helpful.
It's the second time we come to this place and will certainly come again !
