This was our first visit since it reopened as a venta - we were very pleasantly surprised . We had a table in the courtyard to the rear - it was a busy Friday and there was a very good atmosphere. We shared a barbecue mixed grill which was very good and at €10 a head was very good value. The staff were very welcoming and we will certainly return.

Venta El Caserio is on located on the land side of the road between San Pedro and Estepona. It is on the entrance road to the big garden centre Agrojardin and opposite Hotel Las Dunas. At a glance it looks closed as the main door is normally shut during the day, but they are open 24 hours 7 days a week. There are very few good Ventas on the Costa, but Caserio has an excellent range of tapas, racions and a menu el dia meal for 8 Euros and a vast diverse menu. In the evening, as well as a dinner menu, they have a fantastic BBQ for two for 20 Euros where you can watch the chef cook your meal on his large glowing BBQ as the sun sets. We were a party of 5 and for starters we ordered the Caserio salad and the goats cheese salad. Both were excellent and vastly different to the usual run of the mill salads. The Caserio had strawberry’s and the goats cheese had walnuts and grapes. The BBQ came on three huge plates which included chicken, steak, lamb and pork, sausage and tasty black pudding, topped off with a baked potato and sour cream. I think we took home more than we could eat ! There was even the offer of a drink on the house. Venta Caserio is a welcome addition to the Costa and is excellent value for money with good service. We’ll be back !

We haven't been to this restaurant in a long time because of previous bad service but as it was local and had changed hands we gave it another try and what a pleasant surprise. The over priced glitz has all gone and it has reverted to a traditional Spanish restaurant with a pleasant courtyard out back where you can choose your meat to be BBQ'd. All of us opted for the shared BBQ for two priced at 20 euros and were amazed at the amount of good quality meat that arrived together with a huge baked potato. In fact the girls failed to eat all of theirs and the boys had no room to help out..

Overall great for carnivores. Good value, nice ambience and good service.

When this place first opened 3 or 4 years ago it was all chandeliers, linen tablecloths and silver cutlery with poor food and patchy service. We recently dined in the newly added bbq courtyard area and were delighted with the quality of the food served. We had Dorada (sea bass) done on the bbq. It was delicious. Moist and flavoursome. Our salads were also first class. Service was attentive and friendly. When leaving we got the impression our custom was appreciated. A lot of Spaniards dining that evening which is always a good sign. Prices are very reasonable. A very enjoyable evening and we will certainly be back. A great dining addition to the area.

My wife and I visited El Casario under it's new ownership in late April/ early May and found it to be so much more welcoming that it's prior ownership.
Last night we discovered during our latest visit a Courtyard has now been added and been open only two weeks. It makes a huge difference because the only other outside tables and chairs overlook the A& with all the associate noise and smell. The new Courtyard has been furnished very well and includes a BBQ as an addition to it's catering choices. We think it will become very popular with tourists as well as the Spanish who are the main customers at the moment.
We shall be regular visitors for sure and note it's constant improvement. Prices are also very good, both in respect of Tapas or main meals. The wine is not overpriced either, probably because the Spanish locals know a thing or two!
