“Fantastic!! Again!”
Reviewed July 26, 2011

My sister and I stayed in Brian's apartment E5 for the 4th time, on our annual "girls holiday". As usual it was fantastic, luxurious, clean, convenient etc. Thanks for keeping the high standards up Brian, you really do make it a very simple yet rewarding experience.

Believe me, I would not return to the same place if the standard was not very, very high. Some of the best things about the apartment are: Free WiFi, satellite TV, marble floors, luxurious kitchen and bathrooms, the biggest sofa bed I have ever seen and apparently the most comfortable, great staff, everything well maintained, fully equiped kitchen, dish-washer, washing machine, 20 feet to the pool from the private terrace. I read someone elses review recently which mentioned traffic noise, (I am not sure for which apartment though), but I can honestly say that I have never heard any traffic or car noises at Mar Azul pool side or Brian's apartment. Oh and in peak season (as of July 2011) there is a pool bar / restaurant and they even do take away for residents in the evening!!! What more could you ask for. Thanks Brian.

Can't say enough...the resort and apartment were amazing. Stayed in Jim's apartment which was absolutely amazing, all the luxuries you could ask for, including english channels on tv...cbeebies for the kids to watch!

With three young children, it proved to be the perfect holiday, especially the pool and gardens. The pool area has lots of shallow areas, fountains, jacuzzis which we all enjoyed.

The apartment was lovely, kitchen had everything, even plastic cutlery for the kids. High chair and cot was provided with no problems and Jim had even arranged for some grocery essentials for us on arrival.

The combination of having such a luxurious apartment, where we could cook, kids cld nap, watch tv and having the pools just outside meant the holiday worked really well and would recommend it.

The pool bar was great too, we would often sit in the fantastic kabanas eating chips and pizza, sipping cold drinks whilst in and out of the pool.

We booked this holiday last minute last summer and were lucky to have found an apartment. We have booked again this summer, kids can't wait...neither can we!

We stayed in Brian's apartment (E5) which is everything you see on the website and a whole lot more! My husband and a I along with our 2 and 4 year old girls stayed here for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. The apartment is spacious, immaculately clean, very well equipped with lots of extra touches which made us feel completely at home. The Mar Azul complex is beautiful and it's hard to put into words just how nice it is. We would sit on our garden terrace, overlooking the ornate pool and gardens which is finished off with a sea view - pretty perfect! The girls loved the pool as it has lots of segregated shallow areas for them to play safely. Our 4 year old also really appreciated the "high five" she received from the lifeguard each time she swam the length of the pool! The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Brian is the perfect owner - the information he sent us prior to our holiday was comprehensive and covered all we needed to know and he even phoned us a few days before our departure to make sure we had everything we needed. He also provided us with details of Paco who we arranged to pick us up at the airport - you can also hire a car from him. Paco is a lovely chap and was at the airport waiting for us (which was a welcome sight!). To conclude, I wouldn't hesitate in booking this apartment again.

My wife and I had a really relaxing and refreshing week stay at Mar Azul. The weather was not perfect but was definitely warm and inviting ! With being on the south west side of the pool (which is fantastic) - we had Sun in the terrace from 11:30 all the way to late afternoon. I stayed in Mak's apartment in B block (booked through www.marazulownersdirect.com) and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The apartment itself is stunning and has a really large terrace with 2 great sun loungers that we could wheel around to get the best view of the garden, pool and sea. The beach itself is only 1 min from our terrace and it stretches to the left in front of the Kempinski hotel next door and allows access to their gardens and pools. The beach itself is sandy (and wide towards the front left of the hotel) but gets a bit pebbly at the water edge. The resort itself is stunning and the pool is wonderfully designed with lots of features. We did make use of the indoor pool in the early evening and had it to ourselves! I would also recommend visiting the beaches along Estepona - they are beautifully sandy and wide (takes 5 mins in the car and parking was not a problem along the side of the promenade - although we also discovered extensive underground parking).

While the complex is really beautiful, make sure you don't stay in one of the units close to A-7 which is a 100 km/h four lane road right behind Mar Azul and very very busy. The beaches are a brown-grayish disappointment and there's no beach alongside the complex at high tide. You better hang out at the pool, which is a real lovely place. If you don't travel with kids, thus being immune to their noise, you also rather bring ear plugs as the sound insulation between the apartments isn't all too good. We had the "luck" of being surrounded by families on three sides which wasn't a pleasant experience, to put it mildly.
To end with something positive, we have to say that the staff is extremely friendly and the whole complex is meticulously cared for. It may just not be our cup of tea.

The overwhelimingly favourable reviews of Mar Azul reflects its status as one of the jewels of the Estepona Coast. Like most properties up and down the coast with a beach view iit is near to the coast road. In reality its position and the fact that the apartments face into and away from the road mean that in practice noise is minimal and certainly no different from noise experienced by any other similar properies . In 4 years of dealing with guests none have ever complained about noise from the road

As a popular resort with families it will of course have many families staying there which contributes to the great atmosphere at the resort. However there is also a very responsive reaction from staff and guests towards persons staying who have any issues about noise from other guests. Unfortunately in this case you did not make any complaint to the staff before leaving. Had you done so this would have allowed any issues you may have had to be addressed. Interestingly the couple staying below you in C4 who were a mature couple without their family had no compalints about noise from the families you refer to and are looking to rebook next year.

Hi Brian
Just to let you know we have all arrived safely back home and thought that I would just send you an email to say A BIG THANKYOU. We have had a terrific time, your apartment E5 AT MAR AZUL is absolutely beautiful and the Mar Azul was great. We have all thoroughly enjoyed it. The quality of accommodation was fantastic, it was really nice to go somewhere with all the home comforts. We would love to go again and will be in touch with you again to arrange this. Our children loved it, the teenagers were really happy with the Wi-fi and loved being able to take their computers and keep in touch with their friends on facebook on an evening. The staff were really helpful, especially Mimi, Carlos at the Pool Bar and the lifeguard Salomee who really was very nice and helpful, in fact she really entertained our youngest daughter who is only 5 and learning to swin, and would give her floats etc in the pool to help her......Paco was great too, he collected us from the airport and took us back this morning and was really friendly and helpful
The pool area is so well kept and clean, I don't think we have every been anywhere before where the staff pay so much attention to ensure how clean the areas and pool are kept. The pool bar was open every day (in fact it was actually closing today) so it was well timed on our part as we used it every day and found it very convenient for drinks and snacks for us all. Also Maria who runs the Pool Bar we visited her restaurant called LA PAMPA in Estepona and can honestly say the best place we ate whilst being there, the food and service was absolutely outstanding.
Anyway just thought I would send a quick email just to say Thank you. The information you supplied before we got there was very informative and very useful on your web site, www.marazol-resort.com Thank you for all your help. We will be in touch again with you to rebook for definite.
Many Regards
Mr and Mrs D Jackson

We stayed in E-2 and had a wonderful time. The peaceful and tranquil nature of the pool areas and beach make this an ideal location for relaxation. For those of you that are looking for the party, don't worry, Puerto Banus is only a few minutes away. I would really recommend this resort to anyone. Families were all around, singles as well. The staff was very professional and accommodating. Solome is the best, she can steer you to some of the great restaurants that are a little off of the beaten path.
