“A genuine find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

We are staying at the Macdonalds Villicana resort and were very pleased on discovering we could cross the main road each evening on a pedestrian bridge to Cancelada. This was a real find. We ate at El Carnico, Miguels and El Legado and enjoyed each one but the best of all was Pura Sangre. Run by a very friendly, pleasant Argentinian couple who couldn't do enough for us. The 14 Euro menu was excellent. We loved the slightly salty hot breaded olives appetiser. Tomato and mozzarella salad with a rocket dressing was lovely as was the other starter Brie with raspberry coulis. We both had steak with a mild peppercorn sauce served with either chips or salad and a small portion of spinach and potato on the side. The steaks were perfectly cooked and juicy. A light chocolate mousse to finish was served with chocolate and peppermint sauces on the side. Perfect.

I went to Pura Sangre, about 2 months ago, but ever since its been always in the back on my mind, to go back again. Its one of those restaurants that you always say I should go there more often.. Every time friends talk about Argentinian grill. I always tell them that this place its top quality.. Highly recommended!

Cada vez amigos hablan de una parrilla argentina. Yo siempre les digo que este lugar es de primera calidad .. Altamente recomendado!

“Gorgeous Food, Gorgeous Service, Gorgeous Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

Great place with interesting dishes and excellent value set menus for 14 euros. Gingerbear10's review of the breadcrumbed olives was spot on - they were delicious and I can't believe nobody else does them. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the secret pizza was a delicious surprise. The service was excellent and we booked to visit again before leaving.

Portions very generous - beware of the crepe con dulce leche which will peel the enamel from your teeth at 500 yards, though if you like a dessert sweet enough to blind you, this is the one for you - if not, the lemon crepe was fabulous.

Without doubt a hidden gem in this beautiful little village.

“A great meat feast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

The three course menu for 14 euros attracted us to this place although we have visited in the past and never been disappointed.  The special menu actually consisted of about four set meals, a really good selection.  One of the best things to eat here is also one of cheapest the breadcrumbed olives 1.50euro are amazing and i have never seen them anywhere else.  Our starters of mozerella and salad was lovely with a tasty dressing.  The steak mains were flavoursome and tender, the accompanying chips deserve a special mention as everyone commented on how good they were.  My wife enjoyed her marinated chicked breast and my daughter ate of the excellent value 7euro kids menu.  3 adults set meals 1 kids meal a round of drinks and a bottle ribero came to 84euros, great value.  Nice outdoor eating area and friendly, efficient staff make Pura Sangra a great choice for an inexpensive night out with quality food.

“Very small bistro type place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2012

We tried the tapas as starters ordered four and shared. Very good The main meals were average. The Lamb was very thin bits and as I ordered medium to well it came as a burnt offering so beware. The wine prices were a little on the high side. Although it is a very small restaurant there were very few eating and therefore no atmosphere.
