Stayed here last week and had a great week, on site rep is fantastic she not only is very nice, but her knowledge of the area is brilliant, Lisa reece is a name to look out for, she looked after me like a sister. There are some lovely resturants nearby. Just avoid the upper deck on the beach, it's food is terrible and owners wife is a miserable cow, avoid this one as you have plenty of choice in the area The las postada is lovely and food is great.

We have owned timeshare here for many years and have never stayed. We had a lovely two bedded apartment with two bathrooms, one ensuite. The apartment was in excellent condition and fully equipped. Both the pools indoor and out were heated and the restaurant was good value for money. We paid 37 Euros for the weeks electric, but were not too careful at using the air conditioning to heat the apartment in the evenings. The receptionist is a bit dour but did all we required. Would recommend the restaurant down near to the beach call Villacana Upperdeck Would highly recommend the resort

My husband and I spent a week here and a week in Dona Lola in September. The two storey accommodation was large and airy and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately not soundproofed as the man next door woke us every night with his Percy Pig impersonations!
The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially Marie-Louise who worked between Villacana and Dona Lola. The menu was a bit limited but excellent) and as we didn't have a car, we were a bit stuck but there were restaurants over the footbridge. Minimarket close by and beach approx 200 yards away - lovely beach restaurant. There was also a very good restaurant within walking distance of Viilacana but not across the bridge. The pool are was beautiful and very well maintained and we had a thoroughly enjoyable week. What made it better was that everyone seemed know everyone else as they have all stayed there for years - very reassuring. We met a lovely couple from Aberdeen who have come for the same two weeks for the past twenty years. One of the holidaymakers had a fall and had to go to hospital and we became caught up in everyone's concern for him. Will certainly go back!

Room Tip: There is a lot of walking so for those with mobility problems, try to get close to the pool/restaura...

My main review appears on the other Villacana page but in the interests of bringing balance to some of the bad reviews here ... we had a great time. CLEAN, QUIET, FRIENDLY. Hire a car and see the area - go to Gibraltar but don't hand over any money to the con men stopping cars just before you get to the border.
Sit it the sun and enjoy a jug of sangria. Go to the local supermarket and buy some fresh fish. Don't be put off by bad reviews. Enjoy!

We stayed for a week in the first week of November. Our apartment in the south was not ready when we arrived. After a 6 hours wait, we were told that our apartment was not available due a mainenance problem and offered an alternative in the North part of the resort which was undergoing maintenance. Very noisy between 9am and 6pm Mon- Fri. Other than the noise the apartments are basic but perfectly adequate. The gardens and flowers are maintained well so the place looks OK. There is an inside pool which is heated and a steam room and sauna. They are all fine but the major problem is that the pool area is very slippery. It is like walking on ice when it is wet. Every member of our party fell over or slipped whilst we were there. Our friends had the same problem when they came to visit us. 1 of our party ended up in hospital requiring stiches to their chin following a slip, and another one severly cut his toe! This make the indoor pool unsuitable and dangerous for old people or children. The outdoor pool at the South resort is just as bad. The resort are aware of the issue but say the tiles comply with the regulations....!!! If it wasnt for this issue, I would go back as it is very good value for money however it is simply too dangerous for children.

Totally agree with the couple celebrating their Ruby anniversary.

We were given an apartment above reception as well, and were refused any alternative accomodation. The staff on reception were less than helpful.
Why McDonald resorts think it is acceptable to put customers in a room overlooking a motorway is beyond me. The word "disgrace" does not convey how bad it was.
The apartment didn't even feature on any map of the resort. I wonder why?

We too decided to leave and booked it at a great hotel down the road the Atalaya Park.
Unfortunately on our way back to collect our things from Villicana we were robbed, and had to return home.
Mcdonald resorts ruined our holiday. Did they ever contact us to apologise? To find out what had gone wrong? No! They had had our money and weren't remotely bothered.

All I can say is don't go there..ever!

The only decent thing that happened was that when we got back the Atalaya Park had given us a refund for the nights we didn't stay. We hadn't even asked. Now that is what I call good service. Maybe the McDonalds Resorts management should visit and see what customer service is all about !

Room Tip: Stay on the motorway and drive past fast!

We own an MacDonald apartment in Scotland and exchanged for a week in the sun with a couple of friends. On the booking form it mentioned 2 bedrooms, appt actually sleeped 6 people. But it only had the one bathroom for 4 adults??? We had automatically assumed the master bedroom would have an ensuite. When our friends arrived for a couple of days they could not cope with sharing the tiny bathroom they decided to book into the Crowne Plaza down the road. They were happy, however, I felt so embarrased. The happy hour should be unhappy hour. Only local drinks, allowed no cocktails. This should be clearly stated in the resort information folder. The bartender was not the friendliest of people I have ever met. I agree the noise from the road was extremely intrusive and I am glad to be home so I can catch up on some sleep. It never stopped 24/7. The electric bill was 29 euros for the week, despite being out most of the time we felt this was an excessive amount.
This experience was so disappointing but we have have learned one thing - NEVER ASSUME!!
