Me and my family (wife and two children 12/14) stayed for 3 nights in Fuerte Estepona.
For the rate we paid our expectations was of course rather high (keep in mind that we are not the picky ones).
This hotel complex is very big with plenty of rooms (there is also a part of it for like condominiums by owners).
The location is right at the beach (not a sandy one, more like small stones mixed with sand). It is just south from Estepona town (about 8 min by car) and not really much outside the hotel area.
We had a suite, a very nice one and huge, about 90sqm overlooking the ocean and pool area.
The place was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was nice with lots of options for everyone including a live cooking station. Great staff by the pool.
A couple of things really breaks down the overall impression and because of that, here are some very strong advice to the management of this hotel:
1. You cannot operate this kind of 4-5 star resort with a temperature of like 20-22 degrees in the pool (nice pool area though), no wonder people didn’t like to swim.
2. To have the resort by the beach is great…but to charge €6 for a sunbed (on a lonely beach) is just ridiculous and ruins the overall impression. There should definentely not be a charge for using the beach beds.
3. Change your pool-towel routins, I mean come on, not to be able to get a towel before 11am is just insane. Do you really think that nobody would like to take a swim before that?

The location lack transportation, shuttle is poor, no bus, only taxi...and if you are a family of 5 you will need to order 2 taxis to the city..
Our first room had a problem with air condition so we need to move..and only the next day as all rooms were full...NO COMPENSATION WAS OFFERED..
Pool is nice, the beach is great but you will have to pat for Sun bed 6 Euros..WHY??

Breakfast is great with many options, and clean. The bar selection for lunch is relatively poor and pretty expensive..

Overall we will enjoyed ourselves, but will not return again..

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty much the same..

Dear idit K,

Thank you very much for choosing Fuerte Estepona.
We are happy to know that you enjoyed our facilities and our buffet.
I am happy to inform you that since August 1 a public bus service has been established that connects the area of our hotel with the center of Estepona.
We regret very much the problem they had their first night with the air conditioning was fortunately repaired that same night and the next day we changed the room for your request although the air conditioning already worked properly.
I answer your question about why they are an extra service on deckchairs on the beach, the beach is public and to be able to put sunbeds the hotel has to set a price and offer that service to both hosted and non-housed guests.

We hope to have the opportunity to receive you again.

Regads,

Customer service team

Just returned from a wonderful overnight stay at this gorgeous hotel. From the moment we stepped into the foyer we felt like royalty. Fabio greeted us with such warmth – he was amazing. As it was our anniversary, he upgraded us to the most beautiful room with panoramic sea views. In addition, he sent a bottle of bubbles up to us, such a wonderful touch. We spent most of our time at the adult only pool which was so relaxing and then had a lovely lunch by the main pool. Miguel was wonderful and as it was a windy day, he secured an alternative table for us to enjoy our lunch on the terrace. We have stayed many times in The Fuerte Marbella however we wanted to try their sister hotel for a change, and it was well worth it. I cannot recommend it highly enough…thank you to the wonderful Fuerte Hotel Estapona team !

I think it depends on what you want during your vacation. This is a very nice resort, nice pool and decent beach front. I didn’t like that I had to pay to use a lounger on the beach. The breakfast buffet was good but the coffee was awful. We had lunch once here and it was not great. We either ate in our room (grocery store not far way) or we are in town. There are lots of great restaurants in Estepona. The main issue is we were about a 10 euro cab ride away which is ok but it would have been nice to be able to walk to the shops and restaurants. I don’t know if other hotels in Estepona have pools but if there are, that would have been better for us. If you are looking to only stay on the resort for a getaway, then you would be happy here.
Things I didn’t like about the room: only one washroom in the master upstairs bedroom, washing machine but no dryer, Wifi didn’t work in master suite.
