“What Joy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2012

Excellent accommodation, in a beautiful building in a fascinating town. You awake to the sound of water from the fountain, which is in the Moorish courtyard. Your room is large with additions like kitchenette and sizeable bathroom. Do you want to eat in your room. No. You descend to the El Bocoy which is attached to the hotel. You are immediately thrust into a true Spanish atmosphere the smell of coffee and pastries. The tapas in the evening are wonderful too.
How can one be so lucky for such a good price.

Room Tip: Take a trip around Osborne

Leones is located in a beautifully renovated 18th century building, giving a unique historical atmosphere to the stay. Service is correct, with English-speaking nightguards and loads of information about the region.
As in most hotels that are in an old building, however, the quality of rooms vary greatly. We took the smallest possible room, and it came with very little light, unfortunately, as the two windows (no so many for 50 m2) looked towards the courtyard in the interior. (I assume that rooms facing the street receive much more light but are less quiet). Nonetheless, rooms were clean, well-furnitured and spacious, although the room design is rather poor if you compare it to the building's extravagance.

Can't find the restaurant on TripAdvisor to review it. Did not stay in the hotel but the restaurant was great - we were in Spain for a week (Seville, Jerez, Cadiz and Puerto) and this was our favourite restaurant...please go! (and please TripAdvisor - can you add El Bocoy to the restaurant list and add this review to it!?) Calle Placilla, 11500 Puerto de Santa María, Spain

this is a great place to stay as the apartments are not only in a fab building but also v clean and comfortable. The adjoining bar/restaurant, el bocoy is perfect for breakfast lunch or dinner. you can have a drink, tasty tapas or a full meal.

Stayed here for four nights when we were unable to find an hotel in Cadiz. This is a two star apart-hotel in a wonderfully renovated ancient building. We had a very clean two bed apartment with small balcony overlooking a busy pedestrianised square. Its a stone's throw from the market and bread/ fruit shops. Underneath the hotel is a great tapas bar and a few yards away is the splendid Cafe Vicente. We found the staff very helpful although knowledge of a little spanish would be beneficial. The rooms are basically furnished with antique style furniture, not sumptious but certainly adequate. There is a flat screen TV (spanish only), washing machine, modern hob, fridge/freezer. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped and anything lacking eg a bread knife, was provided in minutes. Certainly OK for making coffee, snacks or a light meal. The one bed apartments are darker as they face the inner courtyard but they would be quieter for light sleepers. Overall, good value, clean and well located accomodation in a gorgeous building. Would look forward to a return visit.

It's a good apartment, with typical furniture, good service, but the cleanliness is not enough. The WC smells bad, and also the floor is every day dirty. The worst thing, it's a small building, and i was on the first floor, and the last day on night, a thief came into my appartment by the window, cause the 1st floor is not enough high, so i had a bad experience, and i hope anybody will happened that.

The hotel was at a fine location, 4 min walk to the promenade where you can have excellent sea food!
Reception was friendly but their English was quite poor.
There was a nearby parking garage and you got a discount when you stayed at the hotel.
The apartments are clean, quite spacious and a basic kitchen.
Hotel itself is in an very old building which is done up really nicely.
