Description: El Faro de Cadiz is located in the traditional neighborhood of "La Viña", where Gonzalo Cordoba started with a small bar decorated as a sailor tavern, with nets and fishing stuff, with few wooden benches and tables. The customers came in search of the famous fried fish, called "pescaito frito" daily carried by fishermen of "caleta" beach. His daily concern and desire to excel led him to transform the local expanding and providing modern facilities. Now retired, his spirit of service and commitment to others is part of our principle to keep shining gastronomically Cadiz and we are proud to continue this work. El Faro Cadiz is still committed to the tradition to move forward and offer the best of our sea and our land to our clients.

On a daytrip from Marbella, we asked in touristinfo for a good traditional restaurant and was recommended El Faro, chose the tapasbar, ordered two tapas first as a check, tasted exellent, not good i spanish so we asked staff to select two more, still exellent, the two x two more, all very taste and delicately served, Nice staff, really value for money, will definately visit again next time in Cadiz.

This was our best experience of real Spanish tapas that we had during our recent trip to Andalucia. Note: We lunched, standing at the bar, we did not eat in the dining room. With our limited Spanish, we ordered by pointing at various dishes that where displayed in the bar or by pointing at other customers' plates... The staff was very helpful and understood our body language perfectly. Musts on the menu include superthin potatoe pancakes with shrimps (croquette gambas y espincas) and the various shrimp and seafood salads. The bean dishes were also delicious. Overall, I don't find Spanish food very interesting, but the different tapas at El Faro offered a great variety of tastes and spices. The pleasant surprise came when we received the bill: our best lunch in Spain at a very fairly moderate price. Our kids (11, 12) loved the food and enjoyed watching the waiters behind the bar.

We live near Cadiz and have visited this restaurant several times before. We have had 2 very good meals here and 2 not so good.
Our son and daughter in law were visiting from England and wanted to see Cadiz--so we combined a sight seeing trip with (what we thought would be) a lovely dining experience.

The staff virtually ignored us. No one smiled , the food was plonked infront of us , and was cooked to various degrees. We also got one dish we had not ordered , but as trying to get attention was so difficult , we just got on with it. How many times can you complain during one meal anyway? Spanish people who came in after us were served first and we just had the feeling we really were not welcome.
This experience spoilt our day. We felt stupid as we told our guests we had booked the best in town.
We will go back.

We went with our parents in law who live locally and were very disappointed - the staff were not attentive ,we waited a long time before our wine arrived and the food and drink were generally thrown at us by the waiter who seemed to wish we weren't there. When the food and drinks arrived eventually they brought the wrong drinks and food but by this point we just wanted to leave as we felt so uncomfortable . Some of the food was adequate, some very undercooked and some pretty awful . It was very busy and perhaps they just can't cope with large numbers of customers .

I went there as a guest so unfortunately I don't know the final bill but the place is very good.
The location is not the best since there is no view whatsoever. But the service is impeccable with waiter always available.

Food fantastic and a big selection of winter

Highly recommended.
