Swept away by the magnificently rich decor of an earlier era and reports of good cuisine, we drove 4 hours to meet friends stopping in Cadiz on a cruise. It was wonderful, perfect for the experience as well as making a lovely memory. The lunch - 4 courses for 33 euros, including a glass of wine - was sublime, not least because it consisted of light and tasty starters, an option for good quality steak, and a great selection of sweets. Well presented, well prepared, and well enjoyed!

This is my second time in Cadiz and could not resist to go back to the Restaurant Cafe Royalty. I had a lovely dinner amenized with life clasical/jazz music concert . Apparently, it takes place every friday and saturday night. This time I had the ¨solomillo de retinto¨ sirloin. Some people migh think this is little expensive for 24 eur, I don´t think so at all. The excellent high quality of meat, not to mention the museum look of this historic restaurant, is more than worth it For dessert I tried the ¨picatostes¨following the recomendation of the metre. Amazing!!
If you visit Cadiz, there are three places you can´t miss, the cathedral, Caleta beach area and Restaurant Royalty!! It´s like traveling to Viena and miss Cafe Central.

This restaurant has been restored for two years according to the original design. The decoration is marvelous! The Café Royalty used to be a place where artists, writers and intellectuals got together. You will feel in another period of time. The place has a really elegant decoration. The restaurant is located in front of a nice plaza in the city center. So if you want to have a coffee break this is a great place to go. Or if you are looking for a romantic atmosphere to have dinner or lunch this is an excellent option. The waitresses are really kind. It is not expensive but if you can´t afford it at least go there and visit this nice corner of the city. The restaurant has been recently opened but I am sure it will soon be a highly recommended place to visit.

Very nice food in beautiful classic turn of the centure surroundings. Friendly but incredibly slow and unattentitive service. The girls were quite able to look our way and not notice our waiving for attention. They were also quite capable of ignoring us alltogether and did not take the initiative to check in on us on a regular basis. However the food was very worthwhile though and a welcome break from greasy deep fried tapas. Good wine served in generous measures helped too. A real shame that the waitress forgot to draw our attention to the huge and delicious looking home made cake selection when I asked for puddings / desserts as I woudl definitley have ordered one if i knew they existed before paying the bill.
