“Great views of the ocean!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

My partner and I were actually looking for a hotel to stay in during our trip to Cadiz and we decided to walk into this particular hotel to check out the prices and room. Immediately we were sold by the beautiful, clean and modern interior of the lobby as well as the room on the 5th floor with a great view of the sea!

However as some of the reviewers here have pointed out, the design of the balconies definitely allows for alot of accidental peeping into your neighbour's room! So just keep that in mind. ;) Breakfast was included as well as wifi (just remember to ask the reception for the password) but I think parking was a separate charge.

All in all, this hotel is perfect for a romantic stay!

I'm not saying there's no place in a hotel for a huge bath tub in the bedroom or showers with 2 doors, one of which leads directly to the bedroom, and neither of which have locks, but is that what most people want? Did they conduct a survey and find out that's exactly what the public were crying out for? Our electronic blinds malfunctioned the first morning, causing an outage throughout the whole suite, and when we returned from our day's excursion, 2 maintenance men were still working them. Fair enough but I wanted to go to the loo, and lack of privacy (including aural) meant there was no way I was going while they were in the room. And then there are the lights, which are fantastic, but seem to be all or nothing, and 2 days later, I'm still using my iPad to guide me both to and in the loo during the night. It's all actually quite entertaining.

On the plus (and more serious) side, we found the staff very friendly and helpful, especially Pablo at check in. We had the Primavera special menu for dinner in the restaurant, which seemed to include as much house wine (which was perfectly drinkable) as you wanted and worked out at 35 euros each. Great value. Location was ideal, rooms light and airy. I just feel for the cleaning staff - so many surfaces attracting so many fingerprints.

We have styed at this parador after a previous experience in Cordoba.
We were very surprised to find an ultra contemporary parador with all facilities at top shape and a stunning view from the room .
You need to ajust your mind for transperant bath tab with changing lighting colors and all doors are made with glass .
The room is equipped with ultra modern features such as electric blinders and power saving system and the corridors .
The hotel was designed and built with a mix of materials which provide an ultra modern style (lots of steel wood and glass). The building itself is large and spread over .
The hotel has 4 outdoor pools and a very sophisticated Spa.
The restaurants (especialy the breakfast) offer a large variety as well as a beautiful view.
Parking is underground with an easy access to the hotel's lobby.
After opening the 3rd bed it bacame a little bit tied in the room but still OK.
The city's old part is within a walking distance.
In comparisson to other hotels we have stayed during this trip, including a Golden Age discount we have received , I found the price a bit expensive .

Room Tip: All rooms are facing the ocean. Those facing the pools might be noisy in summer time although all...

Modern design, clean, minimalist lines. Decor using local stone, wood and iron. Very nice ambiance, relaxing and not fussy.

Particularly liked:
Spectacular breakfast. Incredible choice. Imaginative buffet with hot local dishes (tortillas, eggs, meat), selection of breads, some warmed for your pleasure, wonderful fruit, yoghurts, special diet choices (gluten-free, etc.), cheese, cold cuts including jamon iberico, fresh orange juice, fresh beetroot + berry juice, fresh mango + mandarin juice, fresh apple + kiwi juice. Especially liked the fact that breakfast was 8-11 and even at 11 food displays were still being refilled rather than taken away.

Use of stone and interior design. My room had both rain shower and a bath. The bath was wholly carved out of a single piece of local limestone and was angular (not round) and felt like a mini-spa. An adult could lie flat in the bath, and there was space for two. Spectacular sea view from the loo!

High-tec lighting options in the room. Also balcony doors open fully so the terrace becomes part of the room.

The exterior pools looked very pretty (but unheated so untested - end March).

Location is gorgeous, facing the sea, next to a park.

There was a 'welcome buffet' by reception in the mornings - biscuits, coffee, tea, fresh orange juice.

Also found that the cheapest offer was directly on the hotel website. Delighted to find that the Escapada Joven (Youth offer) is for 18-34 year-olds. The hotel website offered the best single occupancy rate.

Could be improved:

Privacy - from the terrace of each room you can see the interior (esp. bed) of the neighbouring room. It's nice that the balconies do not have high partitions between them - it makes for a great view. But when you are on the balcony, there is also zero privacy and you are almost sharing the space with your neighbours.
Some parts of the bathroom are behind frosted or semi-transparent glass. Could be an issue for some guests.

Basic spa should be free for guests, especially in colder months.

Plastic flowers!

Tea/coffee in the room would be nice.

All in all, found it to be spectacularly relaxing.

Don't be put off by the ugly modern exterior, unusual in a parador. Once inside the room was good, with a huge bath, comfortable bed, and a terrific view from the top floor. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Working Internet. Well placed for exploring the old town.

Room Tip: Go for the 7th floor for the view.

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. Everything great and the breakfast was superb. Most Spanish hotels are poor for breakfast. Our only complaint would be that they charge you for using the spa.

Very different to other paradors. Give it a try......you will enjoy it.

Room Tip: The higher up you go the better the view is......obvious but true.

We got really lucky with this hotel, and were upgraded to a junior suite, a fantastic modern room with a great sea view - and two (yes two!) bathrooms and showers. The electronic blinds were twisted and obviously had not been checked, but we soon fixed them. Breakfast was included in the price and was quite good - lots of fruit, bread, cheeses, cereal, and even smoked salmon.

Aside from check-in we did find the staff could be a bit unfriendly. The bar area was also lacking in character. Apart from that we had a great stay and would use the hotel again.
