A true 5 stars hotel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 22, 2019via mobile
Everything in this hotel is top notch. From checking to checkout we received excellent service from all staff members. Our room exceeded our expectations. The hotel grounds and amenities are in par with a true 5 star hotel. The restaurant on site is also excellent. I highly recommend this hotel. Expensive yes, but worth every penny.

The staff were welcoming, our bags were taken to the room and we were given a tour of the hotel. Great garden for lunch or drinks, and a nice small pool - more a plunge pool than anything else. The breakfast was good, and the room was a nice size. It's about 15 minutes walk to the main tourist attractions, and easy to get lost, but taxis are not expensive. The dinner restaurant is expensive, and the outdoor bar prices sky high. We were joined by two friends for drinks - 2 beers, 2 wines and 1 small bottle of mineral water cost 35 euros ! ( we could have had the same in a nice bar nearby for less than 10 euros). The hotel is expensive enough, but the food and drink prices are exhorbitant.

Excellent hotel and facilities. Staff are great except in restaurant. We would visit again but eat out in the many restaurants nearby. Visited the spa which was also nice and the outside pool is a real treat.

The hotel is well located, it's also pretty but our room was small and expensive. The staff was very friendly and Helpful. The bar was also nice and the drinks were well prepared.
The breakfast buffet was good but also expensive.

Room tip: Ask for size more than views.

Carlos the manager made us feel very special when we arrived to the hotel. His team members were equally inviting throughout our stay. This is a unique special property especially when you include its museum quality ruins and artifacts that it possesses!

This is one of the most successful conversions of an old palace we have ever seen.
Restored where possible, modern sleek design where not or even to enhance the old.
Without doubt the best hotel in Cordoba and the flagship hotel of the Hospes group.

Staff is impressively friendly and helpful. Just a few minor details with housekeeping (upper parts not dust free; amenities used by previous guests), corrected immediately after mentioning.

Standard and deluxe rooms are a bit small, still have a good feel and are comfortable. A toilet, bath, shower and two basins squeezed into a rather small bathroom. Would have preferred the bathtub was skipped.

The big star of this hotel, apart from the staff, is the garden with pool. What an unexpected oasis. All guests seem to be completely relaxed when taking place. Unwind completely.

There is room for improvement. Create space for non-smokers or even better, forbid smoking in the garden or at least half the garden/at the poolside area. The majority of the guests today are no-smokers.

Tip: the hotel is in the northern part of the old city. Everything within walking distance. Hard to navigate by car; difficult to park (at the hotel it is 24 Euro's a day). We dropped our rental at the station and took a taxi to the hotel. Traveling from Cordoba to places like Madrid or Sevilla is easy and very comfortable by train.
