Because the historic centre of Cordoba is quite small, it's easy to walk and see just about everything in one day. Buildings have been beautifully maintained and if you like to wander, it's fun to get "lost" in the winding, Moorish streets. The waterfront is also very pretty with its abundance of trees and glittering water.
There are two drawbacks to the centre: the first is the smell. The plumbing has not been modernized, and it smells. Don't breathe in too deeply.
The second is the begging. Don't fall for it, fellow travellers: there are the beggars working the crowds, but if you turn a corner and go up a couple streets, you will see their cohorts sitting around talking on mobile phones. Enough money for cell service and not enough to eat? I think not.
