Owner description: The Palace of Viana is a lived house until the end of 20th century by noble families but with a great popular flavor instead. One of its main attractiveness are the "patios" and the garden that make it be known as Museum of the Patios. Indoor and outdoor are perfectly integrated, giving to the palace an original harmony. Among the collections stand out paintings, tapestries, leather and ceramic tiles among others.

“Lovely Gardens”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

We loved it! our visit on a Sunday while we waited for the chuirch services to finish at the Caterdral. We wandered through various courtyards, a palace with different types of patios, each one with its own story and use differently with beautiful flowers giving off their scent, a quiet place to wander and photograph and reflect – worth the visit. Added bonus its free to foreign visitors with sight of your passport.

“Courtyards and much more”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

This palace is renowned for its colourful courtyards built at different times of its long history. Judging by the huge number of visitors this must be one of Cordoba's top attractions and it is certainly worthwhile for the flowers alone

“An unexpected oasis of charm and calm”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

It was a bit of a slog walking from our hotel to Palacio Viana under a hot sun - but well worth the effort. Entrance to the Palace is through a courtyard centred around a fountain surrounded by greenery and flowering plants - and shaded from the sun. From there you negotiate a maze of courtyards and gardens - all with fountains or pools. On our visit(end of May) all were filled with glorious colourful flowers and sculptural green foliage. To enjoy the Viana to the full go as early as possible to avoid the escorted tours that fill up the spaces and quite spoil the ambience

“Patios galore!”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

The many patios surrounding the old palace display a variety of styles and flora from many centuries, down to the most modern. These are complemented by the rooms within the palace itself.

“Entrancing and peaceful”
Reviewed May 14, 2013 via mobile

We went to Viana not sure what to expect; and loved it. It is a fairly long walk from the Mezquita but it is an interesting one that can take you past the roman temple (not worth going to in itself). It is not that difficult to find if you have the ordinary tourist maps available. We recommend that you go early as it gets busy - there were several school parties there when we visited - and the peace and quiet is what helps to make this special for us. We only wanted to visit the garden and had to wait for short while as they were sorting out a group for a guided tour of the palace itself, but the staff were friendly and helpful. We were given a very informative sheet which supplied a short history of each patio, together with a list of the main plants in each one. This was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours and from the glimpses we got into the palace on our way round, we would probably return on another occasion to visit the interior as well.
