“Superb!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

Through an anonymous metal door on a narrow street, you step into a beautifully designed boutique with the most sincere and personal service you can imagine. Gerardo and Carmen are absolute gems! The decor is a mix of ancient and modern, the room was a touch small but had a nice firm bed and a table and chair. The breakfast is an absolute must. Fresh bread, orange juice and fruits! Ten minutes walk from the Cathedral-Mosque, and quiet.

Room Tip: We had the small double. Would recommend - quiet and comfortable.

i don't particularly want to review this hotel. why? because the more good reviews it gets, the more people will find out about it, and maybe next time it will be harder to book a room....

Viento10 is one of those hotels that you just want to keep secret from people, because it is just that good. Gerardo (and his small staff team) are just wonderful hosts; the attention to detail in every aspect of our stay was so well thought through.

the hotel itself is calm, discreet and as guests you are treated like adults - there's no rules and regulations posted everywhere, everything is calming and simple. our bed was so comfortable, and breakfast was just perfect. we will definitely return.

i've not seen the standard rooms, but we stayed in one of the suites and it definitely felt like it was worth the money. if you are just staying for one night like we did, arrive as early as possible and check out as late as possible. you won't want to leave!!!

If you like impersonal, standard tourist hotels, this one is not for you.
We were quite overwhelmed by the layered centuries of history in Cordoba and found here an inspired modern restoration of an historic house which created a calm haven only ten minutes' walk from the main sites. There are some nice restaurants an even shorter walk away and we liked walking "home" in the evening, back to somewhere in a quiet residential area.
Gerardo's welcome was genuine and warm and he was happy to chat and answer our questions about how he had rediscovered the medieval building and interpreted its dimensions to create the small hotel.
Everything is done with artistic flair; even the presentation of the delicious breakfast. Some of the artwork was created by the owner's daughter.
We stayed for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Cordoba had so much to offer the visitor and while we were there we had the bonus of an annual medieval fair in the square which was quite exciting to visit; mingling with the crowds of locals in the evening.
We were quite blown away by El Medinat al Azhar ("The shining City") a short drive away. It is a vast and amazing archaeological site; more impressive than Knossos; with a fabulous modern museum which won the European museum of the year prize in 2012.

Geraldo runs the hotel in an unobtrusive but helpful manner. The hotel has been nicely renovated with a modern and artistic feel. The rooms are well designed although the bathroom and shower could do with more places to put things. Breakfast was very good and Carmen is a delightful host. The beds and linen are clean and have crisp sheets. The tourist attractions are close by and the river is a nice place for a stroll or, for me, a run. A good stay!

Room Tip: The suite had a little more room and facilities and was worth the extra cost.

My husband, an adult daughter and I stayed here for 1 night on 26 Sept, 2012. It is superbly located on a very quiet street, only 10 minutes walk to tourist sites. It is very comfortable, exquisitely furnished. Gerardo was a great host and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend Hotel Viento 10 for your stay in Cordoba.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

I have to say that upon initial impression of the hotel, we were quite surprised that it was the top-rated hotel on tripadvisor for Cordoba. However, the hotel grew on us over the 3 nights we were there and by the end we were quite happy.

The rooms:
Many of the rooms have no windows, which does make the rooms feel like a cell. It took us a little bit to adapt to this and though we would have preferred windows, we were okay with this set-up by the end. The room we stayed in also had 2 twin beds pushed together, which is common in Spain, but not so pleasant. Still, the room is modern and clean and clearly thought has been put into the aesthetics of the place. Mostly it was quiet while we were there, but since the rooms do all face an inner courtyard, if there is any noise there (which there was briefly one night) it can be very loud.

The service:
-This is not a hotel with 24/7 service. The owner arrives int he morning and leaves in the evening and otherwise you are on your own. If you plan ahead then this shouldn't be a problem, but if, say, you spontaneously decide you want access to your car which is parked in a secure garage that the hotel keeps the key to, then you may be out of luck and frustrated. (This didn't happen to us, but I can imagine such a scenario).
-The owner was helpful whenever we did need something, though not the highly sociable B&B type you might expect at a place like this (or maybe he is, just wasn't with us).
-Breakfast is an extra 6 euro/person and totally worth it. We opted out the first morning but decided to partake on our second and we were glad we did. It's still more expensive than eating like a local but it's delicious and beautifully presented and I highly recommend it.

The location:
-The hotel is on the edge of the old city, so it's a bit of a walk to the major sites, but really not a big deal. Actually, in some ways it was nice to be less central, especially as far as car access was concerned.
-The parking lot is right near the hotel but when you arrive you have to call the hotel to let you in. They said they would be there in 2 minutes and it took more like 20, which was annoying. But if you know to expect that, I guess it's okay.

So overall it was okay. The price, however, is cheaper than a lot of places, which is definitely a draw.

Room Tip: The junior suite has windows.

Thank you for your review and comments.
I only would like to improve 3 aspects of your review:
Most of the rooms have windows ( 5 of 7, 3 normal windows and 2 special tainted ones) and 2 have skylights.
Most of the rooms ( 5 of 7 ) have double beds of 1.60 or 1.80 cm, only 2 have twin beds.
Guests could ask for a parking key if they want to use the car during their stay and could keep it with them.
It was a pleasure to be your host.
With my best regards

We visited Cordoba between Granada and Sevilla, and this was an esthetic, peacefull, relaxing experience. Breakfast was the best we had in Spain. The owner was a great host, the service was good and he had very good tips on where to eat and what to do. We would definitely recommend this tranquil and exquisite gem of a hotel.
