“Great Location”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

You just can't beat the location of this hotel. The Mezquita is so unique, thankfully it wasn't destroyed so many years ago. The hotel lobby and courtyard are beautiful. Our beds were not so comfortable, but exceptable to have such a great location. The Roman bridge is beautiful at night, but fun during the day too, with all the ducks under the Calahorra Tower. We found the breakfast good, didn't have any other meals here. There are no rugs in the rooms, so moving furniture is very noisy, but we didn't find the maids a nuisance, maybe we were up early enough. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Just need new mattresses!!

Literally opposite the Mezquita in Cordoba, the location of this hotel could not be better. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and efficient and the price an absolute bargain. I would definitely recommend Eurostar Maimonides to anyone who wants to stay in and explore the beautiful city of Cordoba.

Room Tip: Smokers: the typical Andalucian patio is the perfect place to indulge in this almost forbidden vice...

Our family of 4 adults and one child of 3 years went to Cordoba in August just to visit & wonder at the amazing Mesquita Cathedral & Mosque. Hotel Maimonides was the perfect choice. It is located just opposite the Mesquita. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. We would recommend this hotel to all who come to Cordoba for the Mesquita.

Room Tip: Side rooms were less noisy.

We went to Eurostar Maimonedes for one night. The location is literally 3 yards from the entrance to the Mezquita - you can't get any closer - and near all the other historic sites. We had a very cheap rate, so this was decent value for money. The room was clean, but super super tiny (which is why I did not give it a 4 out of 5 star). Nice Cordoban style decor in the lobby. Front desk polite but could have been friendlier and more accomodating. We got to breakfast 5 minutes before it was going to close but the waitress shooed us away saying they were closed.

Bottomline - if you're on a budget (under $100/night), this is good value for money. If you have a slightly deeper pocket, find a larger place with better service.

Room Tip: Our room was at the ground level at the back. Ask for a room with a view of the Mezquita and on a hi...

We chose this hotel specifically for its location and, as mentioned by just about everyone, it was perfect. The Mezquita was just across the narrow street from our balcony with the clock tour looming overhead. We'd worried that we might be bothered by street noise but decided to sacrifice that concern to the view. As it happened, with the windows closed, we hardly heard the crowds below at all. However, the first night, a car alarm - maybe in the underground car park - went off unchecked throughout the night. The streets are very echoey so that destroyed a whole night's sleep and nobody seemed to attend to it. No sooner had we finally dropped off but the cleaning staff started their incredible racket - exactly as described by others. They obviously want to rid the hotel of guests as early as possible, even when they are not checking out. Although the second night was quiet, it was deeply irritating to be awoken far too early again by screeching chambermaids crashing and banging about, and needlessly dragging and hurling furniture around the place. So, the excessive noise and consequent lack of rest or sleep was a major downside at this otherwise very good little hotel. The reception staff were delightful, it was very homely and the rooms and bathroom great for the price. It was also spotlessly clean, so those chambermaids were at least doing something right! The convenience probably made up for all the unnecessary disturbance, but we would choose somewhere for a guaranteed night's sleep next time round. Incredibly lovely though Cordoba had been, the hotel had left us all too exhausted to really make the most of the following day in Granada.

From the moment our taxi drew up to this hotel right next door to the Mezquita, it was all good, fast effiecient check in, pleasant staff, lovely big rrom with a fridge, cable TV , great airconditioning and good free WIFI in the room.
A step outside the door and and you start to explore the little alleys of the old Jewish quarter, all the sights are within walking distance, but only 10 minutes up to the modern shopping centre of town. The Aussie dollar's up, the food is good and some great bargains in the shops. lots of little restaurants up the windy alleys and after some great food for diinner a walk across the old bridge, in the moonlight.
We got a really good rate booking at the last minute.
Our favourite place was the fortress of the Christian Kings, Alcazar.
Fabulous

When approaching the city look out for the red tourist signs for the Mezquita. We then followed the yellow signs listing the hotels, and found the hotel with no problem at all. You have to drive into the restricted area and park in the underground car park.
The lobby area and ground floor was full of character and charm and the room was immaculate, the air con good and the beds comfortable.
We were facing the Mezquita and had no problem with noise at all.
There were many tapas bars and local restaurants to choose from and the central area was just a 10 min walk away.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok with plenty of choices, but there were plenty of places to eat local spanish food close by.
A great choice for a short stay, especially when it's so hot because you can return to the hotel to cool off and take a siesta before going back out to enjoy the city in the evening.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the Mesquita
