“Slow check-in”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

I stayed here for one night in December 2012. Hotel is located a few minutes by foot from train and bus station and the old town is a 2 minutes walk away. Check in was very slowly. Furniture old. In-room-safe out of order. Free WIFI worked well.

The hotel is very convenient to the train station and is an easy 10-15 minutes walk to the main historical area of Cordoba so I'd say the location is perfect as that way it's a quieter area and you can easily find some free parking spots on the streets near the hotel.
The check-in took forever. There was a group of 4 tourists travelling together in front of us checking-in (only one employee at the reception desk in the middle of the afternoon) and we waited a good 15-20 minutes for them to finish. I thought maybe it was because they had some special issues, but it took us a good 10 minutes as well to do the necessary paperwork, so that was one of the slowest check-ins I ever witnessed.
The hotel itself looked pretty good, the lobby area was very big and looked comfortable. Our room was large, clean and well equipped, bathroom was nice as well. The room was very quiet with no sounds whatsoever coming in from the lobby so I was very happy with that, but then I noticed that my large bed seemed to be one of those old fashioned springy bed which was extremely uncomfortable as soon as you made any kind of movement so needless to say I didn't sleep very well, although my girlfriend told me in the morning that her side was better, maybe mine was just old and in need of an upgrade... but for me the most important quality in a hotel is the quality of sleep I get there so that affected my rating. The tv had one of the best channel selections I had seen in a long time with at least 4 different languages available, so that was great to see.
Overall, I liked the hotel. In my opinion it has potential to be a great deal as the price I paid was really quite good. If they could speed up the check-in process and change the older or used up mattresses, it would be a hotel I'd definitely recommend because other than that it was very good.

Once again the tryp chain of hotels provided an excellent room with modern bathroom. Very well presented and spotlesly clean. Breakfast was excellent and there is a coffee shop attached to the hotel. This hotel is an easy walk to the historic old town. Also a small supermarket close by. An easy walk to the station.

Lovely clean hotel, easy walking distance to train station & to main sights. Reception staff very friendly & helpful even with my poor Spanish.¬!

Bedroom & bathroom spotless (even flannel which is unusual for a European hotel) & for price unbelievable.

The hotel is very near Cordoba City center and the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba.
Professional welcome at the desk: map and info given without having to ask.
Clean room and bathroom. Breakfast: Ok without any fuss: hot water and coffee in thermos flask, bacon and eggs, fruit, yoghurt ...
Only problem:no free car-park for your car if you use one. Need some time and patience to find a free spot on the streets. Careful about the blue lines on the streets: restricted time for parking a car. Mind the fines!
I would recommend this hotel. It is comfortable, spacious and clean.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2012

Stayed at TRYP Los Gallos Hotel in Cordoba for 3 nights during Semana Santa (Holy Week) in 2012.

The hotel's location is well positioned 10-15 minute walk from train station, and 15-20 min walk from city centre/Judería (ie. the sights!). No problems finding it and felt safe at all times. There's also a small supermarket a few doors down which is convenient.

Reception staff were hit and miss (mostly miss if you're looking for engaging and pro-active staff). However, when an extra pillow was requested, it was delivered.

Moving onto the bedroom... All rooms have a balcony (I believe) which is always nice. Bit of a shoddy one but good to have the option nevertheless. Our room, and I think they are all very similar, was quite small with just enough room to walk around the bed and pack the suitcase.

Decor is very dated and there was a musty smell of what was once a smoking room or perhaps the carpet... fridge was supplied, as were 2 glasses.

The bathroom was adequately clean and towels were changed daily, even if not specified.

Plusses for this hotel were the free safe in bedroom (have been asked to pay deposit etc for safes in Andalusian hotels before) and free wifi as standard.

In all, I wasn't completely disappointed with this hotel - given that I had very limited options when I booked for a peak period. Wouldn't recommend it to others though.
