The family that runs Hotel Don Paula are very nice. The son speaks perfect English and while the parents do not, they are happy to play charades if need be in order to communicate. It is perfectly located in the historic center. It's very close to all of the action, but at the same time is up about a street from it, so you don't get as much of the tourist foot traffic as you would otherwise. Quick and easy taxi ride from the train station (less than 10 euros). We were given room 2 which was very large by European standards. It was actually handicap accessible, so that may have been why it and the bathroom were so large. Not sure how big the other rooms are, so if you want a larger one, then you may want to request room 2. At first we were worried because it is located right off of the reception area, but there is actually a door and small hallway that separate it from the reception, so we didn't have any problems with noise. Another big perk of Hotel Don Paula is that each room comes with a small refrigerator which guests can use, but they also stock it with free drinks for guests, which was a very pleasant surprise! Our fridge contained 2 bottles of water, 2 juice boxes, and 2 milk boxes. A great bonus! The room also had a safe, which was nice. Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Don Paula. We felt that it was an excellent value at our rate of 85 euros. Also, the Mezquita in Cordoba is well worth a visit and the cost of admission. Additionally, the tapas bar/restaurant "Bodegas Mezquita" right near the Mezquita was delicious.

We found this to be a really friendly, family run hotel. The location is superb - the main attractions of Cordoba are only 6-7 minutes walk away. The room we had was clean and very comfortable with good attention to detail - a free mini bar (soft drinks only) was a nice touch. The young men of the family spoke good English and were very helpful in making suggestions about things to see and directing you towards things like cafes for breakfast. Some reviewers have commented on noise but we found the hotel to be very quiet. I also thought it was good value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

We spent two nights at Hotel Don Paula during the height of (much to our surprise) the Patio Festival. Despite the added throngs, our stay was comfortable and relaxing. As others have said, this is a family run hotel, efficient and old-school in the best way. And the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect if you want to be close to all the important sites, but not constantly around the other tourists. Don't miss the wonderful neighborhood (read: less touristy) plazas, cafes, and restaurants that surround Hotel Don Paula. Cordoba is an overlooked gem of a city deserving much more than its typical status as a day-trip destination. You should spend a few nights in Cordoba and definitely stay at Hotel Don Paula.

Can't praise the Hotel enough; staff charming & helpful, and the boys could speak English ! It's a modest hotel but the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable, bathroom fine. Situation ideal, halfway between the Mesquita and the main squares. I arrived by train and their map got me straight to the hotel - will definitely try and get back there again.

We drove from Granada, and provided you have read the directions very carefully, you drive up to the front of Don Paula after an interesting trip through the narrow streets of the old town. My advice if you get lost is to stop and ask one of the many policemen - they are very helpful. Otherwise you will find that the one way street system gets pretty frustrating!
The owners are very friendly and helpful, unloading the luggage and taking the car down into their garage while we checked in, before being shown to a pleasant room. The room and bathroom were very clean, with good beds, and an excellent shower.
Walking into town and the 'sites' was easy, and took less than 5 minutes through the narrow cobbled streets. There are many small restaurants nearby where you can sit in the morning sun and watch the world go by. The owners were attentive and at the front desk would happily provide directions or recommendations whenever you needed them - they are clearly [and rightly] proud of their establishment..They gave us clear directions and a small map to help us exit the city for our drive to Sevilla
A good, if short stay, - I would definitely stay again and thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Only one night here, but the room was definitely cozy, well-appointed. Wi-fi wasn't working, but there's a PC in the lobby for internet access. Easy to get around the neighborhoods from this hotel. Staff super-friendly and helpful!

Room Tip: Some rooms are a bit noisier than others, due to proximity around the busy street; inquire before (o...

I can probably not add any more to the rave reviews of this warm and professional family hotel. But I can clarify. The most important thing is that it is difficult to navigate in the historical area of Cordova, but the Hotel Don Paula sends you a video of how to drive the route. How amazing is that? They don’t have breakfast there, but that’s not unusual in Spain. They DO have coffee in a way. There is a little machine in the lobby that makes great coffee instantly. Save your .20 euros; that’s all the machine takes or get change from the desk person.
For breakfast (Desayuno) they recommend a breakfast place around the corner where coffee, juice and excellent toast is churned out like a machine. The fresh OJ is like ambrosia, and the toast will melt in your mouth. You can get sides of Iberico, tomato, Spanish donuts and other things but just try some butter and honey on the toast. The Spanish eat a small meal in the morning in anticipation of the gigantic meal at lunch.
The senora of the hotel doesn’t speak English but you can communicate with the translator on her computer. The whole family is extremely earnest and try to think like travelers. When we left, the staff on duty made sure to come out and say goodbye! Can you top that, Mr. Hilton? I hate to mention it, but we parked for free. It’s probably the luck of the draw. The space happened to be open right in front of the hotel and our small car fit.
The hotel is very quiet, but I think I’d prefer a room in the back of the hotel. Unfortunately, this is the location of the neighborhood’s trash cans. Four x six foot (2meter) boxes that seemed to get emptied every night. There were also some street revelers but you’re far away enough from the touristy area. When the air conditioning is on you can have the heavy windows closed and drapes drawn. That should help. The hotel also has Persian blinds that allow you to keep the room window open but block out most of the daytime heat. Our bathroom wasn’t large but ample enough for two to get past each other. There’s a large elevator for the upper floors.

Room Tip: The hotel is very quiet, but I think I’d prefer a room in the back of the hotel. Unfortunately, this...
