“A hidden gem”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

We stumbled across this wonderful authentic tapas restaurant having become fed up with waiting to be served in a tourist trap next door. The food was of the highest quality with the Salmoneja being wonderful and a real taste of Cordoba. Other dishes were equally high quality. It was quiet when we were there but it deserves to visited. Far superior to similar establishments we have visited in Spain

“Better avoid it !”
Reviewed September 12, 2010

We entered it during our recent trip to Cordoba and we had to regret it. No one else was there, and this is never a good sign. We tried their advertised offer of one tapa plus a small beer for 2 euros, then we ordered a paella (a very small and probably pre-cooked one) and how much was the bill? 22 euros ! I argued with the waiter and noticed that they asked 14 euros for the paella, 2 for a small piece of bread, the tapa + beer was 4 euro instead of 2, plus they wanted us to pay the VAT while on the bill it was clearly stated that it was included already ! They immediately printed another cheaper bill, which means that they knew what they had tried to do. Conclusion: typical tourist trap, there are many better places there.

“It was good value for money, but not as...”

It was good value for money, but not as good as out meals elsewhere in Spain. They do a good version of gazpacho here and the daily stew was decent.

“Poor, many better restaurants”
Reviewed March 9, 2010

During a recent trip to Cordoba, we had lunch here as it was the top recommendation. I cannot understand why. Although the town was busy, we were the only people in there. The menu only had about 12 tapas on it (one or two of which weren't even available that day!) and the 4 we did choose were, at best, average. The fried calamari was rubbery.

There are many better restaurants to eat in.

“Good, but many better tapa taverns in Cordoba”
Reviewed October 29, 2009

The Pizarro Taberna lacks any attempt at atmosphere, hardly anyone was eating there the five days my husband and I attended a conference in Cordoba, and the food was at best average. There were many more excellent tabernas in the area. I ordered shrimp wrapped in pimento and my husband ordered fried cod and pisto, the French equivalent of vegetable stew. We would not choose this again due to the high calibre of others around. We did agree that it was inexpensive, but for a little more a person could do better.
