“Don't leave Almeria without trying it”

I can really only echoe previous reviews. In this unassuming little place with a very friendly atmosphere they serve a kind of nouveau tapas. That sounds a bit pretentious but its really delicious. Try the squid or the black pudding with bread foam. Its hard not to work your way through the entire menu once you start.. Equisite.

“An Eye-Opener ...”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

There is precious little to be added to what has already been said in praise of the Taberna Vasca: this is a truly exceptional address that puts most so-called tapas bars to shame. The dishes on offer are extraordinarily inventive and definitely on a par with some of the best to be found in the likes of Bilbao and San Sebastian. So much so that one wonders how long it will be before the chef is lured away to some high-end establishment or other elsewhere in Spain or abroad ...

The service is prompt, efficient and friendly, the people-watching coefficient impressive. A piece of advice: if you want an outside table, go early (+/- ten o'clock or even earlier) and stay late (pigging out on the postres).

In sum; if you eat nowhere else in Almeria, eat HERE ...

“Great mid-day tapas break!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

After touring the Arabian/Moor castle we used Trip Advisor to locate this place. Food was terrific! We has the salmon toast, grilled cod fish and the duck breast. The presentation was excellent and the parings were beautiful. Cod fish with pumpkin and orange foam - who knew it would be so good? Don't forget to order Cava as a beverage - it works!

“Another fab meal”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Went to taberna vasca again today, and again was not disappointed. Had the gastronomical tapas menu at 25 euros ahead and it was wonderful, little portions, 6 courses but my favourite were the mini hamburgers with fois gras - beautiful. Will definitely be returning soon!

“Designer tapas”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

At this taberna you get really well presented tapas with great taste (we had raw tuna that tasted delicious). However, the portions are minute and only good when having a small appetite. Look out for the foodies that visit this taberna and painstackingly slow enjoy their tapas with a smile from ear to ear.
