Owner description: With more than 200 exhibits, the Bauhaus Museum in Weimar offers insights into the development of Weimar's State Bauhaus, the 20th century's most significant college of design.

The museum provides an introductory movie to the Bauhaus movement but better, more interesting info is to be found online. Besides this there's one room where a number of exemplary pieces can be found that were developed by different representatives of the Bauhaus movement. But that's it: no effort has been made to build a more coherent story throughout the exhibition and you really don't get to know a lot more on Bauhaus besides the things you already now. To our opinion the pieces at display here should move to the 'Haus am Horn' that was build in 1923 as a model house of the Bauhaus movement and that can also be visited in Weimar.

Basically one large echoing room with a few drawings some commentary and probably the leavings of other places that have a proper exhibition. Not worth the visit.

The museum offers an overview of the rise of the Bauhaus design movement, which started in Weimar. The film on Bauhaus gave a very good impression and the collection of design objects is well presented. It was a mystery to us why we were not allowed to make photographs (even without flash).

The museum is housed in one big room but I was lucky enough to get take a tour. There were only 5 of us so we all got to ask a lot of questions and the tout guide took longer than usual. It was in German. Don't know if there are English tours available. It was actually nice to visit a museum that only took 1 1/2 hours to go through.

We paid €5 each to get in. The exhibit was one large room filled with stuff. There seemed to be little order and the whole thing was a little loveless. It needs to be said that they are building a new museum, and I hope that will be better, but for now it is only good for real Bauhaus fans. For those wanting to get to know it, this is probably not the right place. On the other hand, it is not that expensive.
